Hey guys im just about to get into dj and need some advice in a number of areas
I have decided i want to mix cd's rather than vinyl mainly for the financial reason but am unsure as to what to get. I have up to around 900 dollars to buy second decks and a mixer second hand. I have found some cheap cdj-100s on ebay and are interested in them. I also found a Behringer djx700 for 200dollars second hand. What do you guys think of this set up, particullary the behringer and can anyone offer me some advice on what would perhaps be better to get (within this price range).
thanks alot please let me know what you think.
CDJ100s will be fine. They're pretty bare bones, but better those than some awful Gemini / Stanton crap.
Avoid Behringer mixers, they really are terrible. The DJX700 might look impressive, but it's cheap for a damn good reason. You very much get what you pay for, and that thing will make for a miserable learning curve (cheap, noisy, crackly components, muddy sound, shit effects, ack). Maybe look at a basic 2 channel Numark or Vestax (new), you should get something for around $200. It won't be anything special, but it'll serve you well until you're ready to upgrade. Or if you can find a used Numark DXM06 in your price range, jump on it.

yeah, numark are great value!
hahah shit i was gonna suggest CDJ200 but store DJ told me:
Pioneer CDJ200 CD/Mp3 Player (http://storedj.com.au/products/search.php?function=search&type=simple&search=cdj200&x=18&y=11)
At this price point this is not the best value CD player on the market, but if it has to be Pioneer, it has to be Pioneer!
 too fucking right! at least they're being honest..

I wouldnt touch behringer mixers with a 10 foot pole. I would probably go for a Numark DXM06 for around the $250 mark. Cdj-100's are total shite seriously the worst cd player I have ever used. If you really wanna do it seriously on the cheap you may wanna go a 2nd hand denon rackmount say a dn-2000. They are pretty robust and as long as everything works correctly when u buy it you shouldnt have any troubles. You can get one on ebay for around $200. Or if you want something new perhaps a DND-4500 for around $450-$500. Yeah I know no flash jog wheel but it really doesnt make a difference the jog wheel on a cdj-200 is just pitch bend anyway.
