the audio out cable on my technics has finally given up the ghost- so I need to replace this- has anyone done this themselves and if so how easy is it?- or should I just leave it to someone like DMC or Lightsounds

you would have to open the rear panel on the 1200 and baseplate... then de-solder the busted cable, taking care not to damage the PCB's, buy a new cable, Technics are the most reliable... (order as a spare part) and then re-solder the new cable. once again, taking care - not to damage the new cable or the PCB's - (PCB = Printed Circuit Board)
Replace the baseplate and rear panel, and hey presto - Deck, as new :)

to get technical, and we all know we want to ;) :tripping: the technics replacement cables are the best. why not go buy a big chunky gold one? because those big chunky gold ones were designed to carry a stronger voltage signal, like tv, line level, etc. whereas an unamplified phono signal is incredibly weak in comparison (have u ever plugged the phono into your line ins and been amazed how much it sucked? ). if you must replace it with a non technics piece of kit, then go find yourself a hi end audiophile phono cable and use it, but that will cost u some serious fold.
