View Full Version : How long was it?
Before you got your first release? Or made something that was decent and you thought "I want to get this mastered and finished"
Been producing for a year now, well close enough... maybe a little less.
Just don't seem to be able to hit the nail on the head, as of yet. :(
Mod, can you please transfer this thread. Sorry
it's not really about 'how long'. (lol, you size queen!)
you need creative talent, or money to pay for someone elses creative talent.

practise practise practise practise
rome wasn't built in a day.
I played in bands for about 4 years and have done my own production for a similar time and I've released near nothing (and i only mean free online/sold at gigs style release) and it's because i don't think i've hit that nail on the head.
You've still a lot more learning to do young padawan.

I thought I had something cool with every single track, but it wasn't for at least 2 years until anyone else did. I originally put my label together with the thought of releasing my own tunes but even now, theres only one original that i consider good enough for release... and two remixes that i have released
i thought i was in lifestyle when i saw this thread title

Well I've been producing since about 2001, my stuff only starting getting better when I found out about VST's and Effects.
Before that it was mostly stock fruity loops shit and was really really really really really really bad.
practice makes perfect.
I find it really helpful to do as much as you can do but then take it to someone professional who is willing to go through your work and teach you how to improve it etc.
There are alot of people out there who are willing to help and are dedicated to the scene to improve etc.. it will help you learn more etc. good luck!
