Hey folks Digidesign have just released Digi002. Firewire interface /mixer/controller.
No SCSI No PCI just a firewireconnection. The interface can also run as a standalone digital mixer. Comes packaged with ProTools LE software like digi 001 and has midi... plus supports up to 96k sample rate.
Great for studio... great for live... all for around 4,600 AUD (2,500US).
value for money.... digi AUDIO based work is uncomparable.
Check out the Digidesign (http://www.digidesign.com)

We already have a TDM system... but I want one of these for the laptop...ah the portability:tripping: :)

Sounds very nice. Has anyone else seen the free digidesign ProTools promo DVD available from digi's website? I ordered it over the net a while back and got it the other day. Now, I know they make some great gear (in fact the best gear) but the tools who they got to promote their ProTools made me sick. I have never seen so many mullets in my life.

:tripping:

I haven't seen that one, but I don't need to to know what you mean... it's real shame isn't it... It's like ... if I get this will I become a tool just like them...??
probably not luckily;)

'yum.

if anyone on itm gets to test/play with one soon, or better yet buy one, PLEASE contact phunkdust and do a proper review.

The specs and demo on the video all look fantastic, but how is the interface and how does it FEEL to use. Only a independent review can begin to answer that.

I have a feeling it could be a winner though.

haven't tried this one out yet but I've played on a Control24 and a mate has the Motor Mix(USB mix interface) fro his PTools & they FEEL excellent to use. So if it's anything like these (which it's supposed to be)... should be great.

The only thing I'd say about Tools is that the "visual grid" for programming is a bit frustrating... but it synchs nicely using midi clock so we do most of our programming off an external sequencer.
Apart from that, Tools is the greatest & this 002 just looks like such a powerful & portable setup. = 1iMac + 1box +1firewirecable +midileads
