The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy has a few things to say on the subject of towels.

A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing a superstar disc jockey can have. Partly it has great practical value - you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold dancefloors of Berlin; you can lie on it on the brilliant cocaine-sanded beaches of Ibiza, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert rave near Davo's; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Muff; wet it for use in hand-to-hand scratch battles; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fog machines or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Money-hungry Promoter (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you - daft as a brush, but very very ravenous); you can wave your towel in circles as a signal that you are pinging off your fuckin NUT, and of course cover your goddamn decks with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

... any man who can tour the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Towels FTW

I just use a quilt cover, maybe it looks a bit tacky but I don't care.
Some of the venues I've worked at use what looks like curtains draped over all the gear if they aren't moving it after closing/bumping out, nothing fancy at all.

9/10 for creativity even if you did steal the original concept

Turntables are probably OK, it's the dust in the fader tracks I'd be worried about.

Dust = crackly pots/sliders.

Anyway, I always cover up with a towel.
