Like the title says, I did a search but not much came up.
What I'm wondering is, if anyone has any good info on what would be good to use on a boat cruise sound wise and set up wise.
I have until November to sort this out, does anyone have any testomonials from a hire service that they've used. I don't wanna go with someone then get some shit heap bunch of equipment and crappy speakers that don't do the job properly..
Also it's a boat party for around 150 people or something, so I have no idea what speakers would be good for the acoustic set up on a boat deck.
Cheers all for any advice!

go to warehouse sound in fitzroy
the best set up i would recommend would be 4 jbl eon10 g2's around your dancefloor area matched with 2 jbl sp118sp's for your bottomend. They are very cost effective and super easy to set up.

I've used them consistantly over the years and have no problems with their products or their service.

go down to their showroom and ask to hear those boxes, if you really want a kick arse system get 4 subs to go with 2 eon10's as FOH, then another 2 eon10's as your backfill. It will blow your mind how big they sound...
hey slicy, you can also try http://www.rent-the-rig.com/
they'll deliver it to your boat and set it up. we did this for a mate's birthday a month ago and worked a treat, no messing around and lugging equipment.

Also sounds good, I really don't want to set anything up either haha :)
I'll pass this on too. Cheers.
These all look pretty good, but for practicality and not having to do anything I might check out Mike's link with more interest lol.

Mackie SA1532z x 2
SWA2801z x 1
SRM450 as a monitor
Will more than do a boat with 150 people - MORE than do in my opinion
Easy to set up then - rear fill will be a bitch to run power and cables to

Just make sure you ask the boat people how much power you can draw from the boat, almost every smaller boar will have a generator which is nowhere near the amount of power you can draw from a household power socket!

As above make sure they know.
You should be right if it can run a toaster chances are it can run your setup..
Each deck is like 30 watts mixer about the same
Speakers about 400 in total...
Grab 2 15inches a monitor and thats it maybe a sub if your keen.

Depending on your budget, I did a formal on a boat (GOD FUCKEN KILL ME SHIT BOARING)
Check out pro light and sound www.prolightandsound.com.au
I used 3 RCFs covering 2 floors and an 18 inch Sub. You don’t need that but the private school was paying me heaps so they got the big set up.
All you need is 2 RCFs art 310s (I think I have that right), there $99 for the pair including all the shit you need for them.
Plus they have a huge range of lights and other stuff. Smoke n shit. There gear is brand new I know this because they sell it and buy new gear every year. If some thing fucks up during the night they have a 24 hour number that you will call and they will bring a replacement as soon as possible.
Also sounds good, I really don't want to set anything up either haha :)
setting up is half the fun (as long as you have some muscle to help you)

Thing is I need a mixer too to plug in my gear to. Not too sure about the logistics of it all, like plugging in the speakers and shit. I've never done it before.

yeah setting up is fun. Suggestion when setting up. Get everying thing in place then add all the wires. Makes life alot easyer. Also pro light and sound have people that can go set it up for you.

pretty much all the pro sound hire companys will set it up for you, they dont want newbies fucking up their gear...
Take this into consideration, you cant have to much headroom. The bigger the system the better, it means you wont have to overdrive it, which in turn will mean a nice clean sound with lots of balls. No distortion or chance of blowing shit up, it aint cheap to repair blown speakers or amps!!!!!!!
If you want a nice fat sounding bottomend get 18" subs if you want it tight and punchy get 15" subs.
If you need any more advice, I'll be happy to help.

Cheers man, probably gonna go with the 18" I guess. Gotta play a bit of R&B and shit too unfortunately haha.
I'll have a chat to someone about what set up to get, gotta get details about the boat yet and what sort of set up it could handle.
