In general I think It's funny how price rises happen automatically when the Australian dollar slumps but I don't recall price drops across the board when the AUD was way over $0.90USD and hitting a high of almost $0.98USD. :stroke:

I ordered a USB gadget online last week, for $13.50. They sent me an email saying that due to the dollar, the price had gone up to $16. Would I like to proceed or cancel? Cheeky ****s. It's not like a few bucks matters to me, but I told them to shove it on principle.

Actually, this comment made me think for a second, and then collate crude oil prices, exchange rates and average petrol prices for the last 14 years, to see how ebs and flows were effecting the constant. Unfortunately, I cant find accurate avrg petrol cost for 2000 onward, but I got a decent trend from newspaper articles etc. What I'm sus about is that one of the major oil price rises was in 2000, not 2001, and therefore couldnt be a reaction to Sept 11....
EDIT: OPEC announced an intended 40% drop in its oil distribution. If your a conspiracy theorist, you could say the US's lack of control of these oil sources and subsiquent possible oil shortages prompted the organisation of the 911 attacks...

Additionally, I beleive the lack of retail price drops was criticized by the Rudd government, which said retail outlets are encouraging inflation by not lowering prices of imported goods. Therefore i beleive it was one the mitigating factors for the rising interest rates. Now we're in a credit crisis, and shops are putting on sales to minimise their own debt/possible risk, looking for their own financial stability at the cost of the general consumer. Goes to show how corporate greed is making Australia a better place.... :thumb::rainman:

That's actually illegal. The seller has an obligation to supply you the product at price agreed upon by both parties at the time of the contract (order).

DJ Gear will always be on the expensive side in Aus...just one of those sad facts. Even worse is all the greed by the big companies...whatever happened to it being about the music?! It amazes me how a reputable company with good products will change the manufacturing process or location to save a buck...Allen & Heath a prime example...made in England no longer...now its China or taiwan or somewhere...
