View Full Version : *HELP* DJM 800 to iPod

Hey everyone, got a new DJM 800 and am still saving for my decks. I want to have a little play around (not a mix) with my iPod and or computer.

I have bought a RCA-3.5mm cable and connected it to the mixer. I am VERY new so no harsh or rude comments please. I just want to get SOME sound through my new mixer and play around with the effects.

Photos of how to do this would be GREAT but instructions are just as good.

Thanks

JB

Plug the audio jack into the ipod (or sound card), and the red and white into a line input on the back of the mixer. Any channel, it doesn't matter

thats it.... might have to adjust the volume on your ipod first though

plug the 3.5mm side into the ipod, plug the RCA into the any of the CD or Line inputs. Make sure that channel is switched to CD or phono, depending on which channel you plugged it into.

Turn mixer on, play song, turn master up, turn gains so input level (lights on the channel) is hitting no higher the 0. turn channel volume up.

now there's your problem ;)

dude just chill what is an ipod decks event? just plug your ipod in and play your tunes isnt it? they can't honestly expect you to mix on ipods with no tempo adjust or pitch bend!

But good luck anyways man!

holy shit why do people drop so much cash on gear without knowing how it works :meh:
totally stumps me as to why anyone would buy an $1800 mixer without understanding how it works on a basic level, surely it's not actually your mixer and you're just borrowing it??

Haha, Give the guy a break.

Now is the best time to buy any peice of equipment due to the Aussie $$$.

I would have done the same if I where him.

Actually, I would have bought some cheap ass decks and mixer first like I did 7 years ago.

How does the aussie dollar where it currently is, make it easier to buy equipment?

seriously its at 67 cents at the moment, therefore increasing the cost to import.

two months ago the Aussie dollar was almost on par with the US dolllar.

At the moment its around 65 cents to the Us dollar. Get it? US dollar is the benchmark for importing goods. If it was costing us $1 to buy 98 US cents its almost the same (CDJ 1000's for $1280) however, no for $1 we only get 65 US cents.

After the last shipment of goods are out of circulation, expect to pay around $2100 for a DJM 800

You need to understand the lag.

pioneer australia purchased stock two months ago for example at 97cents etc.

That stock may take a month to dispatch and another month to get here on a boat.

That fact you got it off ebay doesnt have anything to do with my question. Have fun if your mixer breaks and you cant get it serviced/fixed.

What?? You've never been to an ipod decks event? Dude you are missing out! If you haven't had a mix on your ipod you seriously haven't looked into the full potential of the mighty whitey. There is a manufacturer code you can enter which unlocks a lot of features INCLUDING tempo adjust and pitch bending by using the jog wheel on the ipod.. why else do you think it is there? Just to adjust the volume and select tracks? Sure its not as exciting as using vinyl or CDJs but that's where the skill comes in - plus get a wireless connection and you can DJ from anywhere in the club.

^^ hey dude i tried to enter that code, but 'm only getting +/-12% pitch range on my iPod. How do i change it to +/-6% - otherwise i can't killer beatmatch properly. Thanks.

Yeah man you got the wacky blacky.. time to upgrade son.

Papanikolas - Yeah bro its been scientifically proven that its impossible to beatmatch at +/-12% I'm not surprised you're having trouble killer beatmatching. PM me for the real code.
