Hey folks,

I'm looking for someone to do a kind of a megamix of a bunch of tracks I've done for my band's debut release. I have around 20 tracks (60+ mins / synth-driven dance-pop type music) recorded and I want a 4-5 min mix including as many of the better tunes as possible. I want this so that I can use it to woo potential collaborators, etc. and to make some contacts within the DJ scene.

The mix itself must be a considered work of art in it's own right (of course), we want something a bit different. If this all sounds like something you might be interested in, then head over to our website and have a listen to some Vivada remixes and see if you like the sounds (none of the tracks there will appear in the mix though). If you really want to have a go at this then email me and I'll get you access to our FTP server.

Cheers,
Matt

It's just 2 different genres with a dash between them.

Let me clarify, I have ~20 pieces of music each around 3 mins each in length. I want someone to try and mix them together to create a listenable (and interesting) track that is around 5-10 mins in length.

Nice welcoming committee, BTW.

That's cool. I'd like to give it a go, but I only have one CDJ.

You will need to come up with some vinyl promos (preferably instrumental tracks)

before you will generate any real DJ interest IMO

 I havent cracked up that much in a while, what a joke haha

You need to be more specific about your stuff man, if you want us to mix stuff then actually let us hear that stuff, you should be as open as possible considering you want a free dj mix of your tracks

Yet another attempt of covert infultration into ITM forums by blatant government agencies IMO.

a 5-10 minute mix from 20 tracks ? so what ... 3-5 tracks mixed together?

or do you expect someone to mash 10 tracks together in 5 minutes ?

and yes ... we're all very fukking welcoming here ;D

if i wasn't so lazy, i would put all twenty in ableton (or similar)
set a loop for each track (ie the 'best' 4 bars) and assign each to a different button on keyboard.

hit record, start triggering loops and editing the loops as they play

wouldn't take too long to come up with something half decent that they would never be able to reproduce live.

that would of course, rely on a loose definition of the term DJ.

^^^^

i just kinda assumed that's what someone would do anyway :P

i doubt it would be possible to mix 20tracks into 5minutes on CDJ's,

it'd defiantly have to be done in cubase or ableton.

Unfortunately I can't really 'feel' your music buddy and would end up producing a really shitty result!

and btw, everyone here is a cock. you just have to put up with them :(

Abelton Live is your DJ. No need to learn how to beatmatch... :D

Yep, that's the kind of thing I was thinking about and I was using a pretty loose definition of term DJ. I don't really know much about it, which is why I came here for help. I could do it myself but I wanted to try and find someone who had a talent for matching beats and melodies together. I'm much better at knocking out tunes then I am constructing songs and albums, if you know what I mean.

I know. ;D

I think the way people categorize music is pointless most of the time, that description was just a bit of a poke at genres in general. I don't know what genre to put my music in. :)

There's no cost. It's not a commercial project. I will be used for promotion but not to sign any commercial contracts, it will be used to attract collaborators to the project. It will most likely be released under a non-commercial CC license.

The reason that the tracks aren't freely available right now isn't a matter of openness, it's more that I don't feel good unleashing stuff on the internet before it's 'finished'. You're probably right though, I might zip the tracks and upload them to zshare or something. I will at the very least upload some of the actual tracks to my site so that people can hear some of the actual material.

Unfortunately I can't really 'feel' your music buddy and would end up producing a really shitty result!

No worries, thanks for having a listen anyway and thanks for the advice. ;)

Aquasky will do it for you
If they could do 150 tracks in 5 minutes, 20 or so should be a cake walk

:P

Okay, I've thrown up a few original tracks for people to have a listen to. Just click on the link in my sig then click the 'audio' link on the navigation menu (I cant add URLs to post on here yet).

Are you after a dj mix of your tracks ? or a remix?

If its a remix I am happy to oblige - I just did a remix for Perth band Calerway fro their debut album....

PM me if you want to know more.

I'm after a DJ mix, but thanks anyway. When we have the vocals down though I'll give you a shout, a remix would be awesome. :thumb:

Wow you guys are all a bunch of assholes...but thats why i love you. The genre is not really that hard a concept to grasp...
I just got Ableton which would be the goods on this one...if no one more qualified (I havent actually used it yet) Ill have a stab at it. Ive got a few mates who do some decent production work who could help me out with this possibly as well
