Had a mate over who just got an iphone & was telling me he had this program on it which could tell what song was playing.

Anyways I thought it was some BS & that it was some sort of hopeless gimmick, but turns out the damn thing works & it works pretty freakin' well.

It noticed the Snoop Dogg track that was playing and identified it within 30 secs, still not totally convinced I threw on Samim - Blackdeath as I thought "no chance now" & bang within 20 secs to my shock suprise it had the correct information.

Has anyone else got it on there phone? It seems like a pretty handy tool to have.

Heres the website for more info

Yeah it works we'll when theres a heap of background noise too. Really useful app. Just hold it up to the source and it gives u the name and artist. It can even open the iTunes app so you can preview/purchase the track. There's another app where you can sing or hum to it and it finds they track for you.

I remember seeing something like this in a UK DJ mag ad back in 2001, cept you called a number and it'd sms the track to ya. Glad the concept evolved, could be really useful.

EDIT: they'v been around since 2002, not 2001

My mate showed me this on his Sony Ericsson about 18 months ago. Tells you remix and all.

basically when you sample the song, it compares the wave pattern to their database

yeah i've had it on my sony ericsson for ages. It's handy but when you're a true chinstroker like me the tracks i want to look up are unrealeased and thus renders the program obsolet.
I'f you need a track id just give me a call on 0423753456, and i'll tell you the info. Thats just how i roll

yeh the program is awesome, tried many songs thinking "surely it wouldn't get this one" but as said, around 20 seconds and theres your song.

Back in my day we had to ask other people in forums on the internet, both ways without shoes.

hows everyone getting this to work?

it says on my phone that it won't work on my network, and that i should just try their ring up service? which doesn't work either

or i could just mc-find mc-foundy in chelt and just ask him

Wow! I saw this, but was very skeptical that it wouldn't work. Going to pick it up and test it out ;)
