This summer is going to be a big one for me for music, I am going to see many live acts/many DJs.

Just wondering, who your favourite DJ's/Dance acts are and what sets them apart as musicians???

I saw Pnau a little while back and i think they had the perfect set... they built the feel up perfectly throoughout there set... as well they had all these amazing visual things going on that added that cherry on top.

I've seen Soulwax and 2manyDJs live and it went off. So much energy... don't know how they did it but, but it was awesome...

Yeah, soulwax is so awesome live. Dunno what it is either. possibly their rythyms, never seem to stop even if subtle at times.

Deep, moody, hypnotic, melodic, chugging, grinding tracks too, please!

And I actually don't mind if the mixing isn't spot on, so long as it's because they're pushing it hard, quickly dropped and mixed in loooooong mixes hardly ever leaving one track on it's own for more than the breakdown etc. If it's 5+mins of track while pre cueing, then a standard intro/outro mix, they better be spot fucking on, son, or step the fuck down!

hehe yeah i like watching DJs who do more than just straight up mixing. drop some samples in, make use of the fx a little..

jamie stevens is pretty good at this.

start it soft, build it slowly, go different places to what's expected....michael mayer and donato dozzy are good examples

playing pre recordeed mix cds is a pretty innovative approach to DJing!

Yeah, being able to creative tension is key imo...

Basically I just love music that makes you want to close your eyes and scrunch your face up
