I've done a breaks remix of Eminem's 'Without me'. I want to upload it to mp3.com.au but am a bit jittery because of copywrite reasons. If I put it up there, am I going to get a burly man from Eminem's label knocking on my door looking for large wads of cash?

i'm pretty sure mp3.com.au has a policy about uploading material that violates copyright - they don't let you do it. i believe (and someone correct me if i'm wrong) in theory they actually check every upload for copyright infringement (amongst other things), which is why it takes a couple of days for the uploaded tracks to actually appear on the site.

if you do it and they let it pass, i doubt you'd be looking at any monetary sanction from eminem/his label (you haven't made any money technically out of it), but they'd certainly tell you to remove it once they find out (which they could well do)...

I doubt you'll cop flak from Eminem's record label...

mp3.com.au will check the song, and if there is anything they dont like they wont let you add it.

If you dont mention its an eminem song in the song info you could probably slip it past them

They definitely wont allow it, I tried to upload a song with a sample from an obscure old movie that no one's ever seen, and they knocked it back...

Personally I'd send it directly to the label and ask for permission to use it, if it's good that is. That said, they're probably inundated with requests like that at the moment, it's got to be one of the most remixed songs of the year, there are already about 20 different bootlegs...
