View Full Version : Reading Project File... 48% Estimated Time Remaining: 1hr 32min
fuck this is really getting to me. in cubase sx it takes like 3hrs to load a project file. its ridiculous and my cpu meter is running 100% the whole time. now i accept that my use of vsti's and effects is a darin on the cpu, but 3 hours to load the file? this is insane. its only 14.5mb also. not even huge. i have an amd 1ghz and i was never expecting a 9 minute file to take this long to load up. its ridiculous. tell me im not the only one who's experienced this. tell me ive done something wrong in the setup. tell me there's a cure for it besiades going to hardware or getting a faster cpu

14.5MB ??? you're kidding! the biggest song file I have in Logic is only 1.5MB and thats a 45 minute live set.
Does it fold all samples and audio files etc into the project file? or maybe it stores a seperate instance of every plugin you load (for that plugins settings???)
i have no idea im beginning to think its doing as u said and storing every instance and setting of the plugins. maybe i should save all my plugin setting and then just be able to load them when i open it all seperatly. btw this is all midi+vsti i've used no audio in it.
also this file seems to be growing exponentially, i add 2 midi tracks with two vsti's and a couple of effects and its just doubled in size. i smell something fishy.

just an idea;
FLASH MX stores multiple undo's as instances of the objects (that you changed) last state, all linked into the original files.
early beta's had huge file sizes, because all of the undo's were being saved to disk.

i was not a good boy, but i was a week or two away from purchasing this for real, having discounted sonar and the future lack of logic pc support. i dont believe in not paying for software, but i do use warez to try new stuff in their full versions.
but yes the undo thing makes sense. right now theyre set on infinite undo, ill try play with that now.
ok ive been doing a bit of research, and came across this (http://linux1723.dn.net/forum/Forum2/HTML/027364.html). apparently its a known bug to do with midi effects. are my vst effect midi effects?
