My understanding is the Xone 92 is not midi equiped and you need to purchase a A&H 1d controller(or any other) for what you want to do. Xone 3d & 4d are your one stop shop for what your after. I want to get the same set up as yourself eventually and get a 1d to hook up to the A&H at the club I play at.
hmmm thanks for that
more outlay but better outcome i suppose
i guess the 92 + 1D x 2 combo is a little more flexible in the end than the 4D

There are other mixers such as the pioneer, ecler and korgs that include midi but there is something special about the Xones.

Ba bom. Xone 92 has Midi out.

I've never used the midi on mine Manuka - so I dono how effective it is but as far as I know only a limited number of items are midi assignable. So you probably would want a separate midi controller depending on your desired use.

If I were you I would take a hard look at the
Ecler EVO 5 or EVO 4
hmmmmm i don't actually like the eclers i've used
the faders are too slippery or something
i like the xone because it has pretty lights and it responds in an intuitive way for me
however, for what i want i will take a good look at the models you mentioned

one92 has about 10 midi assignable controls as I understand it
I'd look at the Eclers seriously - every knob / button is midi assignable and the filters are awesome also....not quite A&H level, but pretty close in my opinion.

Definitely saves you doing your back in carrying something so massive around. Then again even carrying a pair of 1D around is a bit of a hassle. The Faderfox controllers are smaller and cheaper and offer as much control as you need provided you're not fussed on needing jog wheels in which case those on the 1D aren't all that great and the Vestax VCI-100 or VCI-300 would be a better idea.

But as a choice of mixer you really can't go wrong with the Xone:92. Once you've gotten into those 4 band EQ's it's pretty hard to go back.

yeh, i'm considering getting a vestax control surface (and a stanton da scratch to play with) after i get traktor scratch next week. a good sound card is super important for any digital dj setup

^ plenty of really good resources on all of this at DJ Tech Tools. I use an NI Audio8 (Traktor Scratch Pro user :)) and I think it sounds great. Small footprint, good drivers and a silly amount of ins and outs too.
The da scratch looks great too but i'd be a little concerned using it to trigger loops and cues as the pads in that particular layout are pretty small so you'd really need to focus on what you're doing unlike using an Akai MPD where there's massive pads to mash.

I just got Traktor Scratch and discovered it has issues with my mixer (an Ecler SMAC30). Apparently the SMAC kills the phono signal when line-in is selected, meaning I can't run Traktor AND play "normal" vinyl without disconecting the phono plugs. This is annoying. It is making me think of upgrading my mixer to a NUO3 (not that I really want to).
Am I right in thinking that something you would need a 3/4 channel mixer to take advantage of the 4 deck capacity of Traktor (so that the Mackie D2 would not suitable)?
Also, my right turntable does not calibrate the timecode which is doing my head in. Have troubleshooted everything and I think my turntable is just shit - so all of a sudden the smart idea of getting Traktor instead of CDJs to save on dosh is looking to have failed.
what kind of turntables do you have?

Are you using the multicore cables to hook it up? I'd maybe try switching them over and see if that makes a difference - there shouldn't be anything wrong with them if new but you never know.
Bizarre issue with the mixer - the phono signal should be going direct to the soundcard and bypass the input switch on your mixer altogether when using timecode with the multicore cables set up correctly.
As for your question regarding using 4 decks from Traktor you will need a 4 channel mixer to run all of them in external mixer mode.

No Jez - this is my first foray into digital DJing.
Apparently the issue with the SMAC mixers is "known" (according to NI knowledge base). Wish I had "known" about it before X(
I've tried switching the multicore cables, switching the decks, swapping over my carts etc. I have "Spin DJ" turntables and have had them for about 6 years - yes, they are shit and cheap (although still play my vinyl without much hassle). The problem seems isolted to the one of the turntables (Traktor so says no "right channel" is being received so maybe something wring with the tonearm?).

cept i've managed to screw one channel so having to get the mixer fixed :(
so maybe something wring with the tonearm?).
or with the needles or the carts
i used to have trouble with concordes before i switched forever to technics headshells - signals would drop from one side or the other depending on........... nothing
i'd get them checked or replaced first and getting a new tone arm is cheaper than a new set of decks :ninja:

very true.
The needles are certainly not new so probably a good place to start yet both carts work on one deck yet not the other??

^ Who would you recommend for Turntable repairs? I've a pair of Stanton ST-150s which need servicing and I know BSG can do it but options are always nice.
i'll post you the info when i'm not at work - i've got his business card at home tucked away
