Posting here cause i thought all you guys would know.
I have been banned at the moment from another forum. I was using a few logins and they said they just matched up ip addresses and banned all them.
Of course i just try to re register but nowhere throughout three computer labs at uni has been successful. What have they done? Because if no-one can register at uni, they're gonna lose heaps of business.
Does each computer have an IP
or is it the server? any info would be great

it largely depends how the system is set up
on large networks there is a specific server, or proxy, that connects the Internet to the LAN. This proxy has its own unique IP address that doesnt normally change. However the individual IP numbers of the computers can either be pre set (static) or set when you log in (dynamic or DHCP)
Aside from that, the IP of the computer you are using doesnt matter, its the IP of the proxy that has been banned.
Two solutions
A) Get the forum owner to unban you
B) Cycle the IP address of the proxy
good luck on either of those

the uni would be all have the same proxy would you think? so nowhere at uni would work? if so sounds like they've cut off their nose to spite their face

i'd say so, nowhere at uni would work, usually there is only one proxy...

You could say that, OR you could say that YOU fucked it up for everyone else at your uni. Don't be such a tool next time...

umm surely its as simple as getting SOMEONE ELSE from your uni to email and complain they cant gain access, someone who had never messed with them (or whatever it was that caused you to get banned.)
if its explained to them they have blocked an entire university they'll most liekly figure something out, probably a removal of the IP ban to the uni's proxy.. :-)
just a thought. its obvious they dont really care what you say, so get others to to the complaining for you!
:) :P :p
