Hey all,

just thought I would let those know who were interested that the online dance radio station I DJ for is looking for DJs.

Basically you stream a 2 hour live set using shoutcast (winamp plugin) however many times a week you want using either a computer based dj program or from your mixer using the line in. It's really easy, you don't have to be a super awesome DJ and it gives those of us who don't get to play to the audiences we want a chance to play our music for an audience and for our friends online. Having said that, there are some quite experienced DJs who also play on the station and like to use it as live practise for the weekend. It's run by a guy who's part of the DJ Tutor network and I've really enjoyed DJing on it so far.

If you wan't to check out the station you can view it at: http://www.live4vibez.co.uk/

If you'd like to apply for a spot you can do so here: http://www.live4vibez.co.uk/djapplication.php

I know a lot of you who get to DJ at clubs etc may find this boring, but for the rest of us it's a really good way to get your sets out there :)

cool, might check it out. which service provider are you with that provides 100kb/sec uploads :o

apparently it's one of the requirements. My max upload is only like 30kb/sec. should be enough shouldn't it? what quality do they require you to broadcast in?

They stream at 96 kb/s and Im with iiNet. I would have thought pretty much all adsl was at leat 100 kb/s up.

320Kbps is about 40kb/s as an upload rate...

Difference? Bits and Bytes same letters though...

Sounds right, but yeah, any adsl connection should do. It even worked for me whilst i was limited for going over my download quota.

Yeah just run a line from your mixer main/record out and into the line in on your computer using an rca to the smaller headphone jack cord. You just need to pick the correct input in shoutcast.

Can you set it up to get the audio from any audio input device?

Yes, as long as you can run an output from it into the line in of your computer, it will work.

Its actually pretty easy.

Install winamp, install shoutcast pluging, put in address, port and password, then stream.

We have a full guide to setting it up.
