SURE M44-7.
Last time the stylus cost about $45 ish me thinks but you will need to by the cartridge/stylus combo first. That will set you back about $120 but that will be with a new headshell as well.
Plus the Sure's come in a nice little plastic tub that can fit a headshell at either end. Good for transporting your pretties to clubs, mates places etc.

Cheers,

Just for digitising, or do you want to play, as well?

If you just want one for archival purposes there is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY better stuff than a 44-7 (which I would rarely recommend to anyone, anyway - the 44-G just sounds way better).

If you want to archive and play, the whitelabel is good, otherwise, look at some reasonable HiFi ones (I know shure and Ortofon both have these). You can't back cue (or move the record much under the needle much at all, for that matter), you'll rip up your stylus and your record, but these carts are meant to sound good, not be used for DJing.

Whitelabels are about $120 normally for the cart and sytlus (and nice case), sometimes on sale for around $90.
If you already have headshells (like those that come with a TT), it's probably better (and cheaper) to get a cart that mounts on that instead.

Shure Whitelabels.
Im fairly sure you can get them for close to, or around $100 each.

the OP did not mention what carts he had when I answered his original question

so because he didn't mention what carts he had, you assumed they were ortofon?

macc4

I didn't assume anything, I merely stated which stylus i thought were best for under 100 dollars

possibly silly question - do shures fit on technics headshells ?

merv_clarke

Yes, nearly all carts that you buy with be screw mountable (fits on tech headshell) unless there are a all in one cart/headshell (like Concords or whitelabels) which then you wont need to use your headshell

also - anyone recommend places to buy stylus is Sydney...Spank looks good

^Pretty much any record store - I bought my carts at Spank.
But when DJ Warehouse has a sale, it's pretty hard to beat them... I got two extra stylii for my Whitelabels for $40.

Maybe consider buying the cart secondhand off ebay (there are often good deals up there) and then buying a replacement stylus new at a store/online?

But Qberts aren't great for sound quality when looking at the Ortofon range.... I wouldn't go for these if I had a cabinet of Ortofons in front of me if I was going for sound quality.

why the fuck would you all recommend DJ carts when someone is digitising their collection.
