Hi all, need some help with my mixer. Need to know what the digital controls are for on the DJM800. I know i will get killed prob for asking but is it better to plug in digital or analogue? I am only new to the whole "HAVING AWESOME EQUIPMENT" thing. Any help would be appreciated.

What gear are you plugging in?

If you interface digital gear with a SPDIF (single RCA) cable you will be using Digital all the way through to the output of the mixer (where it will be converted to analogue), whereas if you use the regular analogue RCA outs of your gear into the mixer, you'll be converting to analogue at the CDJ/Digital device and then again at the mixer.

Each will have a different sound. Using the SPDIF connections should mean a little less noise, but you might like the sound of the DAC on the CDJs and the ADC on the input at the mixer.

Not all CDJs will have digital/SPDIF outs anyway. If they don't, that'll make your decision easier.

I am Running CDJ 1000's so i do have that option... I am confused as to why anyone would bother with digital sound? God this shit is confusing.

just make sure the cable is 75ohm coax otherwise no go.. dont use some standard "Red or white" audio RCA...

Don't think about it too much. Just stick to the good mixers like Rane, Allan & Heath or Pioneer and you'll be right.

what the fuck does that have to with the decision to utilise D/A-A/D converters or keep the signal pure digital.

big dog... there's no huge advantage in keeping the signal digital, if you already have the RCA's plugged in, i would suggest keeping it that way and spend the cash you save on music.

Why do you say that? Over short distances, standard RCAs are just fine.

As Bracko said - if it aint broken, don't fix it.
You could use your RCAs to make the digital connection though, no need for new cables.
