Hey there!
I am currently moving towards some form of Traktor set up and i am looking at purchasing either a xone 1D or 2D!

if there is anyone out there that currently uses either of these products some info would help!

1. How are you running it in your system? (Doesnt have to be with Traktor)

2. With 1D an external sound card is needed correct?

3. What external mixer, if any are you using with either of the Xone products?

4. And finally, are these good midi controllers to buy?

Any info will help!:prydz:

im not currently using them but i can answer some q's for u

2. yes this is correct
3. you can use any external mixer you want
4. i believe they are good midi controllers but to get the full potential out of them u need at least 2 and an external mixer. but for the price you can get something like a VCI-100 which is arguably the best controller for traktor pro (imo). for more information on the VCI-100 check out the Vestax website and DJTechTools.com. there is some really good mappings, modifications and firmware upgrades on that site.

but as always shop around try shit out and never rely on peoples opinion. form your own. its about what is best for you and what you want from the program and what u want to do in your sets.

Hey there,
yeah thanks for the advice, im am really keen on the allen and heath setup, looks very sturdy and of good quality.

My set up would be, MacBook - Xone 42 - Xone 1D - External Sound Card

1. how would i go about connections as i know all three can connect via usb to computer?
2. and for traktor users, how do you have each deck on traktor to each channel on the mixer?

sorry very new to digital dj'in? :what:

By the sounds of things, a VCI 100 plus sound card is what you are after - awesome controller and great bang for your buck really

I am assuming you dont currently have a mixer or other gear???

No i do have gear already, ie, Macbook and i have two CDJ 400's and a DJM 400 mixer,
Looking to get a 4 channel ASAP (which i think the xone 42 is a great buy) but want a controller to controller loops, efxs etc on traktor?

Well i think you are best getting a multi channel sound card and using your mixer controls.

Then if you don't really want scratch capabilities in trakor, eg just looping and efx....then there's heaps of options
Cheap and dirty but highly effective would be the Korg Nano range
Nanopad and NanoKontrol would give you a lot of options as far as mappings in traktor and set you back less than 300 bucks
Akai MPD range also gives you heaps to play with too
IF you don't need the jog wheels and wont be using teh mixer controls.....teh vci is a bit of overkill for purpose

1D and 2D are great units but very pricey i think

Yeah i have seen the Nano series around and they do look very interesting! ill have to a another look.

Do you know what sort of control you get from hooking the xone 42 straight to the PC?
(haha sorry im really new to the concept but really enjoy new concepts)

Any Sound card you recommend?

Native instruments Audio 4 or Audio 8 is one of the best at the sub 500 price range

I am not sure....little to no MIDI control i would be guessing
Look at the Ecler Evo4 - probably one of the best MIDI implemented mixers going around at the moment and they can be had for 1500 - 1700

Why dont you use the midi on the cdj400 to control tracktor?

haha - i hadnt even thought of that....thats the cheapest option for sure

I use for reference
VCI 100
Ecler EVO5
Korg Nanopad
Akai MPD24
Audio4

Never all at the same time.....different set ups depening on where i am playing pretty much
Not really pracitical to take the EVO5 out if i am playing at a party for a short set etc etc

yeah i have tried to set up the cdj for midi control and i am not a fan.

plus i wish to possibly involve the cdjs as well as traktor through the mixer to get all of it happening!

Hi to all
I live in Greece and as an amateur digital Dj I am planning on buying the following staff:
1)Allen & Heath xone 42 or 62
2) 1 or 2 Xone 1d
I will be using these with my laptop and traktor pro for home and small parties.

My questions are:
1) What are the benefits of using two xone 1d and should i buy two instead of one?
2) What are the main differnces between xone 42 and 62 and which one should I go for?

Thank you in advance
Sotiris

Wait for the NI controller
Its designed by NI for Traktor
It will be the best controller by far for cue, transport, fx and loops for traktor!
