I'm looking at throwing an underage dance event in darwin. It will be outdoors and apparently the venue can fit 1000 people in it. I got Audio n lighting sorted out as well as security. does anyone have any tips, advice or anything. its not for another couple of months but im tryna get it all sorted.
ps if you live in Darwin first up your a legend and your invited

Jump on the Facebook bandwagon and promote the shit out of your event via a group, invite all your friends and then hope that they all join and invite their friends.
Not only is this a cheap marketing campaign, but even the most well known and cashed up clubs and entertainment companies use this method because they know how many people (especially those theyre aiming their gig at) log on to Facebook everyday.
Also goes without saying that your standard word of mouth, flyers, business cards etc needs to be done as well. Good luck mate.

Dude, I used to live in Katherine. Do i count?
Promo the shit out of it.
every avenue is an avenue.
but 1000 peeps? think you might be aiming just a tad to high for the bar.
Get ahold of all the local street presses and flyer every chance you can get.
bill posters work,.
hope you got some cash behind you to pull 1000.
Good luck.

Is there alcohol involved? Get a distributor on board as a sponsor, and offer some kind of drink specials.
Is there alcohol involved?
It's Darwin, you can buy beers at an under 7's footy game

LOL!!! Someone who actually knows where Katherine is! And lived there too!
I used to live there, and Tindal (mostly Tindal actually) and Darwin too.
Mum and dad still live in those places respectively too.
Not a lot goes on in Katherine except hot and wet.
Camell.. Try starting small and work your way up.. See if you can schmoose it with a bar or club manager for free hire and start from there so you don't blow all your money and energy in one hit.
Good luck!

I have no experience at all in this area BUT community radio stations may be in a position to help promote you. Try getting on good terms with them and see what you can come up with

If it is an underage gig try getting in contact with the local councils youth program and I think its call freeza as you might be able to get some funding/ some one to help organize it

whoa! blast from the past in the middle of nowhere.. Obviously one or both of your parents were in the air force too.
I was about 90 to 93 at katherine south (I think? the one with the green uniform) then St Joseph's.
Didn't stay long enough to make it to high school there..
LOL... crazy.. I can never mention katherine let alone tindal to anyone and not have them ask where it is.. I always just refer to it as about 3 hrs south of darwin. Near enough is good enough.

I'd be looking into sound most importantly. If its open air you are going to be needing something fairly hefty.
