I have the 1200mm ones. I think they come from the same factory. Get it from the Shelby place. They seem to be the cheapest when I compared. I m pretty sure it's the same product.

The 1200mm are perfect for me coz I use them for DJing and the tweeter is pretty much perfectly in line with my ear.

To answer you question. Very suitable IMO, it's really sturdy steel and looks good. Looks better in real life.

I cut out some high density foam to go in between the stand and my speakers as well.

you don't want to skimp on speaker stands, since some of those steel tube stype stands aren't all that sturdy... I owned some Lovan Affiniti stands which had a nice large base on them... I got them from here (http://www.theloudspeakerkit.com/shop/productdetails-sizecolorprice.asp?ProductID=95&ProcessType=4) cause the were cheap at the time (I paid $160 for the 900mm ones)... that was for some small 5" monitor speakers...

when I upgraded to 10" monitors it was clear basic speaker stands wouldn't cut it so I whipped up some uber ghetto speaker stands...

they don't need to be fancy... definitely a case of function of form IMO... with the key consideration being stability, you want to protect your investment... here they are, it took more effort to source the concrete blocks than it did to glue em together... :P

these things are really stable and match the footprint of my monitors very well also... basically each half is two 300 series concrete blocks glued together then to a piece of ply... then one half is inverted stacked on the other with some EVA foam to allow the blocks to sit evenly...

the ply protects the base of your monitor and the floor from getting scratched up by the concrete blocks...

those actually look quite cool acoustinaut.

paint wood black and put small rubber feet would look super sex. might copy in the future.
