View Full Version : Need a controller for traktor scratch to downsize
Hey guys
Right now when I DJ I use CDs or Traktor depending on venue, time, ease of setup etc, and where its a gig where I need to bring equipment, is traktor scratch with my turntables and mixer.
Ive now got a new regular gig at a hotel every week for playing chilled stuff, and I have to supply my own equipment. It will be a pain lugging laptop, mixer, and 2 turntables every friday, as well as a small speaker.
So I suppose i want to replace the turntables with something else to control speed, pitch etc, but would like to retain the mixer and it sounds good.
One option I was thinking was to start using Live again to DJ, but then its a constant thing of having to warp tracks and all that which I dont want to get involved in.
I suppose what Im looking for then is like a virtual or dummy cd player/turntable, that is light and portable which I can use to control traktor scrtach, and mix with the external mixer as usual.
Any ideas?

BCD3000
Cheap and not half bad
Way cheap and extremely bad.
I have also read some good things about the stantons but havent had the chance to play with one yet.

What sort of mixer do you use?
I would suggest a VCI 100 to use with your audio 8 but then you have no need for your mixer so nthat why I wondered what sort it is cause if you can get your head around not playing with your mixer VCI 100 would do a great job

considered the smaller cd players on the market? ie. cdj100 and dn-s1000?
they weight nothing, are very small and portable. I believe there are carry bags available for the denon one as well.

If you wanted to keep your mixer...
either Stanton scratch thing is a good move or EKS OTUS (but this is rather expensive!)
EKS also do cheaper controllers, that you could easily integrate with a mixer

wow...a lot of hate for the BCD3000. I know who people have giged them for the past 1.5 years and never had a problem. sure its an entry level controller but for the price i believe it to be good value
