View Full Version : Latest She Dj News
This is from an email released yesterday by Pioneer Australia -
"Latest She DJ to join the very select group is Emily Scott. Keli, Helena, Emily & Jody. 'She DJ's' That can mix it up on any stage or booth. World Class in every sense."
The spirit of the thread is to share thoughts and opinions on whether this move adds to the brand, or diminishes it? Is it a sound, superstar strategic move, or does it cause plenty of lol's, lmao's and imo's?
Compare and contrast please.

google is your friend....
Meh,
I gotta admit their mixing from what I have seen is pretty tight. Cant really fault them on much. But the sets are nothing too special.
I just dont think they should skip to superstar status just because they are hawt stuff.
Oh well they will be forgotten about eventually.
I can’t believe they let someone call them self “she DJ’s”, if they want any respect from our community they need to be just DJ’s and not push the “I’m a girl” shit at everyone.
They must constantly realize that they are getting work because they have tits and not because they are good at what they do, I couldn’t live like that myself!

You won't hear it from all the way down in Melbourne, but this is me applauding a good point, well made. :hooray:

agree with that 110%
there are so many great female djs around that dont have to resort to that
same goes for guys too, there's a lot of "trendy" male djs that i'd put in the same category as the "she djs" it's all about being cool / popular and playing the latest new crap tunes

If I was a female who was a DJ in my own right and was already mixin it up in clubs etc I would have no problem in Pioneer giving me cash and other incentives to be part of their click and then just keep doin what I was doin.
It's not selling out if you're just keepin on doin what you're doin and inadvertantly start getting extra $$ for it.
For sure, guys do it as well; there are tones of so called DJ’s out there that are just in it to look cool.
There are also those young DJ that can’t seem to separate Producing from DJing and think they should be a great DJ just because they made a crap top 40 remix in their bedroom!

same, that's IF i was a female (which i am) ;D
and it wouldn't be inadvertant, it would be because i worked my butt off to get there :ninja:
The issue is when any DJ male or female is getting by on how cool/attractive they are and not how good a DJ they are.. I’ve got free gear, clothes & Promo records before so I have no problems with them taking the opportunity, more of a problem with Pioneer in this case selling them as “She DJ’s”..
if the issue isn't about any DJ (male or female) getting opportunities, then why take issue with Pioneer's 'She DJ' marketing angle? that seems contradictory to me.
i've got no problem with hot girls getting gigs by being hot, i just wont go to them. it's not selling out or any of that bullshit, its basically modelling with back ground music provided by the model :P
theres hot women in all industries who are rewarded for their physical appearance. life goes on.
I'm failing to see how a pioneer sponsored group has any relevance.
don't like the DJ's... don't go to the gigs

i do believe there is a need/market for these types of girl DJs in the scene. I'm just very proud not to be one of them :thumb:
Yeah, i just find it tacky!
