I was wondering if anyone could help me, I am brand new to this and have no idea how to do it....

I have a behringer mixer and I have a fairly new sony digital mini disc player...... I want to hook the mini disc to the decks or mixer so I can record what I am playing....

Is this possible and does anyone know how to do it ??

Yeah it's possible. depends on your mixer though. Does it have a seperate 'booth' or 'record out' output?

i've got a sony md recorder running off my mixer's 'booth' RCA output and the 'master' on balanced xlr to an amp. All you need is a 1/8" to dual RCA cable. Costs about 10-15bucks at jaycar or dicksmith.

im assuming youve got a Eurorack?

consider using the SENDS outputs so you can selectively create a mix out just for the MD, and dont forget to run the MD back into its own channel, which you would have to mute of course during recording

RCA tape ins and outs on these small behringers and mackies are all well and good but dont give you any control over eq/volume besides assigning them to the control roon fader (and the mackies)

by using the ALT output also on mixers like this you can utilise the simple bussing technique so for example if your best friend suddnely decides to MC over your mix, it wont matter because you arent enabling that channel to record, yet you still hear it form the Main outs

i would advise against using Main or Control Room outs for that very reason.

Keep an eye out for better cables, too. ask the friendly people at dick smith or what ever for the highest quality one the have. The quality off the cheap cables is fine(ish), but you can do better with shielded cables and wanky gold plated jack ends. With a recording medium as good as MD it's worth the extra bucks for the better gear. JUST DON'T LEND THEM!
