Illusion DJs was a group of my friends and I who didn't want to spend heaps of money alone so we all chipped in and bought some really decent gear to do house parties etc around our local area. Basically I want to keep playing, but don't want spend the same amount as what we did before. I have kept the sound system as I paid for it.
I am thinking of just getting a Macbook Pro 13inch (was getting one anyway) and then just running a Vestac VCI 100. Can anyone see any problems with playing house parties with this set up?

Also am going to go to lightsounds and get some of the 2nd hand cheesy lighting effects. no where near as good as the $1000 lasers my friend has but meh. And probably just going to get some decent powered speakers.

feed everyone acid and have 1 light bulb going on and off every 3-5 seconds. That will be enough efx.

you couldn't lend a few things you needed off your mates?

maybe they are not mates anymore?

true.. just going off what the original post said "no where near as good as the $1000 lasers my friend has" so i am assuming they are still friends. but i guess it can be abit annoying asking your friends all the time for gear.

op: check out the 2nd hand section in lightsounds if you go, might find something good

Why the fuck would it matter what you use?

Can it get the job done?

Will you feel limited by the gear?

I'm hoping your budgeting for a decent sound card to hook up to your sound system as well

Well I ment Why the fuck would you care or the people dancing care what you use to get the job done. if you use a vci100 and a laptop and can rock a party better that person b with all the latest pioneer gear and a nice matching haircut. Then does it matter what you use see my other questions to answer yours

I vote the acid. Just bring a kazoo and a smoke machine. What a house party...

Try heading into a few pawn shops for lighting setups. I've found it's the cheapest place to get your hands on some pretty reasonable stuff plus some old vintage lighting for next to nothing.
