People,
I've just bought a 307 Groovebox, without any leads or adapter unfortunately. If anyone owns one - could you tell me what leads I need to plug it into my stereo and PC.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
dunno yet, picking mine up today, maybe I'll be able to tell you tomorrow...

power is a DC 9volt 1amp, you can get this at any place like Jaycar or Dick SMith
you can get the midi cables anywhere, and the audio 1/4" you can pick up at any music store
do you have a manual?
i can email you a copy of the manual in .pdf (acrobat) format if you would like

Cheers Driload - you are a star. No I don't have a manual.
Can you mail to:

i'll send it when im home tomorrow
yeah i know what its like to own a 307 and get shafted in terms of Roland... theres all manner of support and program editors and neat stuff for the mc-505 but nothing whatsoever for the mc-307
and its not compatible with the 505 much either
i have one mothballed pretty much but keep a spare midi lead patched into it, the DUB BASS is nice and dont forget to try the sine wave in the synth part as a bassline too
in fact, try a lot of the organs for bass too, dont feel limited by the "categories"
as for the tempo slider, its crap, and the fx switch, well i never had it off EVER as its pretty much global. apart from these few niggles, a pretty useful little box.
one last quick tip, the SONG sequencer only has (if memory serves me) 50 "slots" for sequencing the parts in to make a SONG... so make your PATTERNS longer then 4 bars if possible.... or you will end up like i did, realising after hours of work that you werent able to finish the SONG without rewriting for hours!
have fun.

I own a 505 and was thinking of getting a second hand 307 to use together as hardware.. Is this not a good idea Driload ?
Also can you control the tempo of the 505 using the pitch slider from the 307 ?
And why is the pitch slider crap ??

the 307 would indeed work well with the 505 but i wouldnt recommend it as a musician. although the 307 has more sounds it really is a case of "same old Roland sounds" and i would advise you to better spend your money on something else!
im assuming a 307 second hand would still sit around the 800 mark or so, and for 800 you can just about buy an AWESOME synth module like the Novation A-Station, or any other number of modules
i would suggest steering clear from any other "groove boxes" or all in one devices as you have all that stuff in your 505 so why pay for it again, PLUS you can easily control anything FROM the 505
just quickly (if thats possible with me) my issues with the tempo slider are that its very "loose" in all manner of the word. its not very accurate, its travel distance is not representative of its tempo adjusting, as in its very fiddly and to be honest, i have it taped up on my unit.... i never used it and its massive gap is a dust haven.
the tempo adjusting on the 505 (not that god-awful tap) is as accurate as you can get. why settle for second best!
a final answer is YES, you can control the 505 with the 307's pitch slider, as long as the 307 is made MASTER midi sync and the 505 is set to SLAVE, and the midi OUT of the 307 is connected via a midi cable to the midi IN on the 505
but again, i see now point in paying 800 or 900 dollars just to be able to pitch slide when you pretty much own everything that is the 307 already.
if i were you id rather spend 600 on a second hand S2000 sampler. the 505 can control and trigger samples off of that, making your dj'ing more fun
any more questions dont hesitate.
