File Extension Help

Ok, so I have just completed a dl that I have been searching long & hard for to be told by Soundforge & Media Player that the file is not supported.
However the properties of the file are mp3 format?? How can I overcome this?

so it's a .mp3, yet mp3 software wont play it?
Sounds like a broken file to me. not much you can do about that

load it into winamp - winamp will play all audio - broken or not, regardless of the file extension, as long as the codec is installed on your computer

I had this problem playing mp2 files... media player (6.4, default player for audio downloaded in internet explorer) just had no idea how to play it, ditto soundforge. Loaded it in winamp and it went fine.
