Anyone got any recommendations for a good sounding 2 channel DJ mixer?

I have a DJM-300 now, and after having a mix on a mate's Urei 1602 I realise how shit the Pioneer's sound...

I don't want anything fancy, just something with nice EQs, good sound etc.

Had my eye on a Urei 1601, but no one seems to sell them in Australia.

Cheers. :thumb:

the rane ttm56 sounds pretty good.. yeah, it's traditionally a scratch mixer, but with adjustable fader curves, one can easily use it for mixing as well. to boot, the fucking things are bullet proof, and the faders will probably last longer than a parrot. also, they aren't absurdly expensive.

also, they aren't absurdly expensive.

$1000+ is pretty "absurdly expensive" for a 2 channel, no effects, no nothing mixer...sure, they're built well, but come on, that's pretty pricey

$395

+1 for the A&H. Good quality mixer there, and cheaper than other comparable alternatives.

Yeah, don't really want to spend a grand for a bare-bones 2 channel mixer.

I'll check the A&H, but my mate had a Xone:92 and to be honest, I didn't like it for some reason...

fair call that it's not really what he's looking for on his part, but calling that a no effects, no nothing mixer is about the most fucking retarded over-simplification i've ever heard. congratulations.

Better try to get a play with one then before you buy.. As always it comes down to personal preference. Have you considered a Numark? I much prefer the sound of them to a Pioneer. That being said I own a DJM400, and it doesn't bother me for home use.

I always liked the Ecler HAKs

If you don't care about crappy fx and just want a 2 channel mixer with adjustable curves etc.

Whatevs, douchebag, saying $1k+ on a two channel mixer isn't absurdly expensive is about the most fucking retardedly misguided eye for mixer pricing I've ever heard. congratulations

They used to be closer to 2k not that long ago, they also have some of the best faders going.

the fact of the matter, you petulant little child, is that buying equipment for djing, if you want it to work well, last, and sound good, is a fucking expensive hobby, on any level. he asked for a good 2 channel mixer that sounded good. not one that was cheap as chips and sounded good. so i answered him, because i've used the ttm56 and i know it both sounds great and lasts. yes, he specified later that over a grand was a bit much for him, and that's fair enough, but in his first post he mentioned nothing of price, and then in response to my post, you oversimplified the awesomeness of one of the simplest and best 2 channel mixers on the market, to, "no effects, no nothing".

so cry, like a little girl. let the tears fill up my tear collection vats and let me drink deep of them.

Yeah it does seem great value. Used my mate's Xone:92 a bit and it does sound great and the filter is fun, but I didn't like the lack of response in the channels and xfader when I felt like a chop. Will check it out soon. :thumb:

I have a Denon DN-X300 for sale that sounds like it would fit the bill. It's solid build, fantastic sound quality, Penny+Giles crossfader, etc.

It's available to pickup in Sydney now and PM for a price.

Cheers,
Ben.
