Hey guys, i was hoping one of you could help me...
I need to burn some .qt (quicktime) files to a CD that can be listened to on a normal CD player. I am assuming i just need to convert them into a .wav file...
Does anybody know of a program that does this???

okay, I don't know of a specific program that will convert one to the other (quicktime is a closed format, only apple is allowed to use it)
If you have a reasonably modern soundcard (ie SB16 or later) it will have a thing called "internal loopback" which means it can record anything thats being output to the speakers without any cabling - it's all done internally...
If you go down to the taskbar, double click the speaker icon, go to OPTIONS > PROPERTIES > RECORDING
There will be a listbox there with checkboxes, make sure they are all selected and hit OK
Now, you'll have a list of sources your soundcard can record... If you see one that says "WaveOut" or "Mixer" or "Output" or something like that, you can record back from the outputs. Check the box next to this volume control, put the slider up about halfway (its a good point to start from, you can come back and adjust later if need be)
Load up a wave editor program, such as cooledit or soundforge... Open a new file and hit record, then go open your quicktime file and hit play...
After it all runs for a few seconds, close your quicktime and go back to your wave editor - you *SHOULD* see the audio in the wave editor now. If you dont, check you've got WaveOut or similar selected as i mentioned before, and make sure in your wave editor that it's recording from that source... You might need to adjust the recording volumes, etc...
Then once its all setup, you should be able to play quicktimes and record into a WAV. Then just chop it up and split into tracks and robert's your fathers brother...
The quality of this process depends on the soundcard. Most soundcards can loopback with little or no loss... Some are particularly crappy at it, some just dont work at all...

Thanks for the tips guys, unfortunately i am on a notebook so i don't have the luxury of a nice soundcard.
I did however find that when you get a fully registered version of quicktime it allows you to export your file into just about any format you want!
so after all that the solution was simple... register the bloody program!!
