hey people
ive recently bought a single technics 1200 deck (cant afford the rest) just to be able to listen the vinyl i have.
anyway, i have low output(volume) coming from the speakers im using - the deck is plugged into a powerful amp - its weird- cant get much volume out of the amp but when plugged through the tv it seems louder!!!!!
any ideas????????
you sir have plugged it into a line input. you need to plugit into a phono connection on your amp or find a receiver with a phono preamp
turntables are phono level. which is a relatively weak signal that has to go through riaa equalization in order to make it loud and proud. this is due to the physical limitations of vinyl.

thank you so much for the quick reply!
i thought AUX and phono r the same thing-
cause we plugged it into the AUX socket and it didnt work.
does this essentially mean i need to buy either a mixer or separate RIAA preamp???????
basically yes.
hunt around pawn shops for old receivers and stuff like that. my friend bought one for $45 and runs the line out from that into the aux of his spiffy amp.
i have an old sony mini stereo that i took apart and just kept the bit that has the inputs, volume control, and eq.
