Ok...So I can play tracks on my CDJ400s by using CDs and/or a thumb drive but what I would like to do is drag and drop a track on my computer and have it cue up in the CDJ via USB. I'm not talking about programs like Rekordbox etc where the CDJ acts as a control device, but where the MP3 is digitally transferred to the player.
I've had a look at file transfer cables (moving files form your old computer to your new computer) and wonder if they might work but suspect you need to install software on both the PC and CDJ. I guess you would need to 'trick' the CDJ into thinking you've just plugged in a thumb drive. You'd probably also need a special USB cable to stop and power transfer from the computer.
Has anyone heard of anything like this?
(Why? - Cant be bothered burning CDs or constantly transfering file onto a thumb drive)
won't happen mate. The on-board USB processor on a CDJ400 can barely handle a couple of hundred MB worth of tunes let alone having an entire computer plugged into it. They simply weren't designed with that purpose in mind. By all means try it, but I highly doubt anything will come of it.
Works on my 900, they must have a more powerful processor?
They better for the price.
I can't believe you cbf moving files from a HDD to flash disk.. pathetic when you think how long the CD burn process can take.

Really?
$3000 (for 2 CDJ900s) will easily buy you two second hand CDJ400s, a new mixer, a new medium spec laptop and new headphones.
...and they still wont make you a better Dj.

Just use traktor Pro with the 400s? Works pretty much the way you describe, just has software inbetween.

Um, what?
EDIT: And yes really, I have a 1TB drive plugged into one CDJ whilst the other unit shares the resource via the link feature. Fairly basic stuff.

Wtf are you talking about? I just said I have a 1TB drive! Which means I must transfer files to it from a PC
It's not that I couldn't be bothered burning CD's, its simply the fact I found a superior method and went with it.
Please read my post before posting shit. :boring:
