ok ive decided its time to rebalance my decks, BUT i havnt done it in ages so i forget. Whats a quick easy way ;) At the moment i have the weight backwards at the end, but i feel that thats not the best way to have them. I just tried to rebalance how i thought and the sound came out really distorted on the bass. I have Ortofon stylus, OM PRO S i think they are. So if anyone knows how to balance these correctly that would be great.
Cheers

here's what i did for my om pro s carts.
- attach the cart weight to headshell and screw on cart.
- first get a single sided vinyl record and place it on the slip
- place the counter weight forward (not flipped as in your case)
- adjust the counter weight until the tonearm is floating parallel with the slipmat
- place the needle on the record and adjust the tonearm height until the cart is parallel with the record and the needle touches the surface
- turn the counter weight dial to 'zero'
- start the record and adjust the skate so it's stationary
- (that's your zero balanced setup)
- flip the record
- now apply the weight for playing/mixing etc, 2-3g should be ok, higher depending on vinyl quality, scratching etc.
- adjust skate to 2/3 to 3/4 of weight used (counters the outbound force when ya backcueing/light scratching), set it to 0 if ya a battle/scratch slut.
- place the needle on the record, sound fine? if yes, grab a beer and enjoy
distorted bass is probably due to bad balance setup. try my setup it should work.

thanks dude i will give it a go over the weekend. Im so lazy tho i couldnt give a fuck i just connect the stylus reverse the weight and play, i thought i should do it properly, probably make the stylus last a bit longer, plus im not a scratch DJ so i dont need heaps of weight.

These guys are good:

There's a link on the page 'HOW DO I set my Cartridge & Tonearm for ultimate performance?' which explains things pretty well. psycho-martian pretty much covered it anyhow.
