hey guys,
Looking at buying a second-hand CDJ 800 Mk2. Sounds like its laser is going.
Can probably get the part for around $115 (inc postage and currency conversion): http://www.instrumentalparts.com/picdj800mk2s.html
But has anyone done this themselves? I've got a little soldering experience.
Is repairing a CDJ 800mk2 the same as the CDJ 800?
This guy here gives some vague instructions for replacing the CDJ 800's: http://www.leafdigital.com/articles/cdj800-replacing-cd-drive-dxa-da114.html
also, while we're on the topic, has anyone got a copy of the Service Manual for the CDJ 800MK2?
cheers,
sam

Ask the bloke for full instructions as well as he will provide full upors and the price is much cheaper
I Would recomend replacing the cue and play switches as well while its apart cos thats whats replaced in a service they are only cheap to buy
Hope this helps

if your going to spend $115 in parts anyway, may as well pay the extra $60 in labor, rather then having to buy a whole new unit if you fuck it up

I agree with the above, it's so not worth the risk.
Pay the extra cash and save yourself the potential heartache!

I replaced all cue and play buttons on my 1000mk3s. Didn't buy the whole button assembly, just opened it up and snipped the old tact switch and soldered on replacement. I got quoted 120 each, for cue buttons only. Tact switches cost me 5.50 each an literally had them all done in less than an hr.... what's the worst that can happen... u wreck the laser?? Its already broken
