View Full Version : CDJ900 vs. DNS3700 vs... other suggestions
Hey peoples.
After about 7-8 years or so away from DJ-ing i'm about to warm up again. But i sold my original CDJ500's long time ago, and the 1200 spinners were sold even longer ago. I've been too involved into Ableton over the years. Anyways.
I'd like to spend 2.5-3k on a setup. As well as CD's i'd like a USB and MIDI function's, so i can use the stuff i've ripped off the vinyls over the years. From some quick reading 900's are rather popular nowdays and have a rather healthy set of features. What also caught my attention, are the DNS3700s from Denon. Just because it gives that classic vinyl feel and they look hot i reckon.
What are some pros and cons regarding these 2 models and anything else you guys might suggest. I'm basing my budget on just the 2 x CDJ's as i already have a mixer. But if there is a good package somewhere out there. Id like to know about it. For what it's worth my main theme is trance/hard dance.
Cheers!
I have a pair of DNS3700's that are in near perfect condition that I am about to sell...they are great decks. $1000 for the pair if you are interested. I am in Brisy. PM me.
I picked up a Denon DNHS 5500 the other week from Store Dj for $639, two decks in one and everything on a usb stick, love it.

I've looked at these as well. This is the one with the optional CD player right? With the CD player they're around $1k. Same price as the 3700's.
Yeah that's the one, im totally over cd's so it wasn't an option for me.
The only hassle is that some of my tracks didn't register with the player, i just had to work out which ones and run them through a converter and now it's all good.

I see. The 5500's sound rather appealing to m, since majority of my stuff is now digital anyways. I can't remember the last time i touched a CD, let alone burn one. And i've pretty much completed dubbing my vinyls into mp3's so. Hmmm i might show interest in these as well.

that's a great great price for that. i have one also, the USB thing is the tits. so so easy. be sure to upgrade the firmware to version 1.4 (or perhaps its called 1.14 cant quite remember) . anyway fixes a lot of minor issues and makes the pitch hold function work a lot better (less artifacts at extremes)
anyway two denon 3700 for $1000 would also be awesome.
Pioneer 900s would also be tits, but def no worth twice the price or however much they cost.
Cheers TT,
Im really enjoying having all my tracks at my disposal, I am shit house at keeping a big cd wallet in some type of order so alot of my older tunes were never played because I couldn't find them in time to mix the suckers in where I wanted, now with a nicely arranged USB there they are!

I rate the 3700 very highly... they were much better value than the 900s when i bought them, although I would imagine there wouldn't be anywhere near the price difference that there was when I purchased my 3700s.
PS $1000 is WAY cheap for two 3700s
Hello Lloyd, thanks for the feedback, and yes I have been informed and agree. I will put them up at $750ea, $1500 for the pair and see how I go...considering they are nearly $1200ea brand new, and mine are in perfect condition.
I have now added them to the selling section:
