I Have only just moved from vinyl to cd........i know the sound quality i used to get from good quality vinyl in a good club set up.......but.......What is the difference in sound quality from a vinyl record in good quality on good quality vinyl when its been recorded via compression limiters recorded from turntable to cd then converted into mp3 in 320 kbps......in comparison to an original cd converted to mp3 format?????????
Also what is the difference between an original cd ...............compared to when it has been converted into mp3 format in 320kbps format??????
Is it noticeable on a club set up ? ive noticed a big difference between the above comparisons on my home set up but am curious what the difference would be on a club set up.......

as a rule, as long as its 320 kbps, you don't have anything else to worry about

hehe johnny just be prepared to receive different opinions in this thread, and not actually learn a damn thing, except that people have different opinions.

use your ears - if you really can hear the difference and prefer the better, buy the WAVs. if not or you don't care, buy 320s.

Most club systems are so muddy you wouldn;t notice the difference.

most clubs run their sound systems so loud that by the time you come on, the punter's ears are so battered it doesn't matter what format you play - no one can really tell the difference. get a nice piece of vinyl on an analogue sound system, and compare that to your mp3s at home and you might be able to notice a difference in sound... but it's not much to worry about in a club

192kbps MP3 would suffice in most clubs ... if they take care with their PA, aim higher.

fur sure funkedub. i think sometimes you could even get away with 64kbps particularly if you're playing the best of AM radio to 90+ year old men who are deaf.

e- btw i was just being a douche :P

digital 320 kbps vs digital wav: 99% of people can't tell the difference, and most people that reckon they can are lying.

digital 320 kbps vs vinyl (analogue): vinyl has a much warmer sound, and a lot of people will be able to tell the difference between the two.

But, in a club, as most people have said, your ears are getting raped and you won't be able to tell the difference at all.

i think it's just the fact that the analogue sound of vinyl sounds warmer and more pleasant to some ears. it might have to do with frequency response of both media, and the fact that one is digital, and has a limited number of information stored about the recording per sample/per second, while the other is analogue so it doesn't have any of those limitations. they both utilize different methods of mastering so that might have an impact too, maybe?

i dunno, some of the tech dudes on the forum could explain this in more detail and in a better way, or you can google, or use the search function :)

i find the argument on sound quality between the two is useless, everybody seems to forget that quality sound comes from the cartridge/CD player, the mixer your using and most importantly the speakers

but just to rape everything im saying, i found vinyl has a perticular soul in the sound that nothing else has

So is the true warmth of the vinyl still present when recorded to cd via compression limiter then into 320kbps format ??????
Or and extra frequencies present on vinyl in analogue lost when converting to digital ?
I wish i had my 1210`s here to do a comparison.....
As said above im new to cdj`s.........just trying to gather all the information i can about the music formats eg wav 320kbps etc etc

as long as you have a good quality interface, and some really good carts when you record, the sound quality of the digital version is theroreticlly the same

and like been said, 320 kbps you'll be safe with the quality
