i might just be being picky (?) but im finding it really hard to think of a dj name that i really like.

just wondering if some people here could give me some insight on why/how they got theres. itd be of big help.

Every thought of just using your name? I thought about a name for ages, till a mate said just be 'Pete Gordon, it's a solid name' and I thought about all my fav DJs (John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Danny Howells, Derrick Carter, Derrick May, Luke Soloman, Lee Burridge, Satoshi Tomiie etc...most of my favs jus use their names...if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me...

yep...i'm all for using your own name....or a variation of it

i dont like using my surname, so used my first & middle names...plus it makes it harder for my 9-5pm bosses to track me down ;)

your dj name should consist of two words, the first being the name of your first pet, and the second being the name of your street.

Mine came about on a train to wollongong while reading a magazine article about Aunt Young Suu Kiiiii, or whatever that ladies name is, being placed Under House Arrest somewhere in Burma oh sorry Myanmar. I think she spoke at an International woman's day breakfast at star city in 07 which i had the priviledge to attend, that's why i read the article.

Bulldozer, that was a porn star name...and was the street you grew up on...and would be I should be "Tania Percy-Dyett" - not a good DJ OR porn star name...especially for a dude! haha

We had a Japanese Exchange student stay at my gf's house, his name was Kazuki and he happened to have almost the exact same haircut as me, so anytime I got my hair cut my gf's mum would call me a Kazuki, and I thought it was a cool DJ/production name.

mine is 2Hyped, purely for the fact that there is alot of hype that surrounds things, when eventually seen or experienced it's way below expectation and was clearly far to too hyped.

Hype can ruin alot of things and i'm not just talking about music.

Mine is the name i used for online gaming. I got offered a gig at a club on short notice and the guy needed my DJ name straight away to put on the flyer, my gaming name was the first thing I could think of and it went from there. I kinda wish I'd come up with something better but it's too late now to change it...

But really, I'm in the same predicament as you, and as everyone else has already said I will probably end up using my real name.

Yeh I just use my real name. If you can think of a cool alias/ name then sure use that.

inside jokes with mates can work if they have a bit of a ring to them.

also any of frank zappa's kids' names.
