Has anybody tried it?

Think it would be a great alternative to having to use a laptop when playing out.

Not sure about the technical logistics of it but guessing someone who has a touchscreen tablet (not an ipad as they only have apps/no external programs)

Traktor will probably work, but I doubt either of the Serato options (Scratch Live or Itch) will work

now with "the bridge" coming in, it could be another option for someone to design a midi utalising such a unit.
BTW, that screen, is a touch sensitive pad on glass with an image projected underneath.
I've been using that concept for Nokia and Sony at the mo for their touch sensitive advertising signage.

beatmatching is just a skill, not an artform

I suppose really its no different to a lemur and the likes.

Personally myself, touch screens lack that tactile feel for mixing. I mean, when adjusting an EQ, you don't neccessarily have to be looking at a mixer, where as with this sort of thing, I just feel that you'd have to be looking at what you are doing all the time to avoid an accidental touch of the screen and it doing something you dont want

are we talking like completly controling everything, and mixing off of the touch screen, or using it with a DVS?

I was more talking of just using serato/traktor with external mixer and cdjs/tts. Just have really got a bit sick of having to have a laptop on a stand and as I was playing with an ipad the other day thought it would be cool to just use a touchscreen rather than a laptop to load songs, set loops etc

There's stacks of templates and shit to set up midi controls on an iPad for Serato out there.

This (http://www.apple.com/au/macmini/) + this (http://www.apple.com/au/ipad/) + this (http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/vnc-viewer/id352019548?mt=8) (or an equivalent) would do the trick.

You'd just need to set it to auto-login on power up, and set up some Automator script to launch your DVS of choice and ensure it's ready for the iPad to connect.
