Looks like Roland have tried to fit the KORG ER-1, EA-1 & ES-1 into one machine..........

...BUT

It won't cut it.......:P

i'd daresay the influence (original design ;)) is more the yamaha rs7000 and mpc 2000 (big screen)

Its actually a tad more upgradeable and future proofed (somewhat) with the extra ram and upgradeable soudns..

looks like the sounds are half decent

but those mp3 samples or whatever..

fucken hell

can't they get it right? the euro trance one sounded sorta like euro trance...
but...was missing something

not that I care what presets sound like but they are what sells the box...

but after all its only a roland

I'd like to have a play with it. I don't think it can cut the mustard tho. Trying to fit too much into one box. Roland does a lot of things, none of them particularly well.

ok, i just downloaded the demos, and no, i wouldnt like to play with it...

ah well it might find use doing the entire backing music for the next boy band/girl band hit.

i feel sorry for roland

living in the fucking past

MC-909??????????

looks like a hunk of shit

you notice all the quality went downhill when "whats-his-name" retired from active leadership of the company

that old dude rocked.

Roland is a fucking laughing stock. look at the yellow groovebox thingy.... hunk of crap

and even the Fanton is a piece of shit.... look at the Korg Karma! fuck me the karma is awesome!

and then there is the amazing team at Kurzwiel, the greedy/slow yet talented mob at Akai, the young guns and genius of Elektron and JoMoX...

for christs sake even the Roland Variphrase sampler was a failure and is now discontinued. can they do ANYTHING right any more?

i see them going the way of Alesis in 5 years when their ENTIRE product range ends up as chepa toys with name slike 808megaSH101

oh hang on... they already tried to capitalise on the sh range didnt they

hahaha... goodbye roland. sell me a kids piano in 20 years

The MC series in my opinion have only really been useful as drum machines, this one looks like continuing the tradition.

Why do i get the feeling that the unit will be put out attached to a insanely painful price tag?

Roland tried to sell that discontinued EG-01 piece o crap at double the cost ($1600) of the Yamaha djx with pretty much the same specs....

Seriously roland, come up with something new, not these stupid all in one boxes rippin off the old shit. That just aint going to shift units.

That vp-9000 would have been quite good tho , if they put just a little more effort into it

I think roland are quite aware of how shit their 'groove' products hvae been as of late.....

However they are there to cater for a market of people silly enough to buy them! (me a few years ago...)

People that are scared away by the complexity of anything more than a dismal attempt at a studio in a box aren't going to be buying e4xt's or mpc4000's or anything 'seirous'....

However roland are probably making more money now than they were 10 years ago...

*shrugs*

They still do release 'decent' products in the form of the 5080 etc...just fucking expensive

i kinda like the look of the sh32 or whatever it is, that 2x osc semi-analogue looking thing... would love to play with it, seems like the only useful thing in the roland range...

the fantom is not a bad piece of machinery, just over priced for what it can do...

I bought an EG101 a while back.......like an idiot. and tried to sell it 6 months later after I realised how shit it really was. I only got $500 from cashies. oooh bad purchasing decision that was. oh well at least I've never bought anything roland since and hopefully never will. I'd get a Proteus 2500 over a 5080 anyday, have u seen how many nobs that thing has.

yeah ... emu know their shit

but then if i was spending that much i'd just go for a nord modular or access virus c

or big briar stupid moog thing

maybe not...

hehe

my point was that roland CAN make half decent products when they feel the desire, just that lately most of the ones that have any effort put in are ridiculously over priced and, under tested (eg: vp9000)

mc909 - with out a doubt one of the more ridiculous things i've seen lately. As with all newish roland gear - looks shit, sounds shit, feels shit. It's even a woeful excuse for a paper weight - too big and clunky.

P.S. Access Viruses rock hard.

i thought roland might save the numbers 909 for something that might restore a bit of credability, but after listening to those samples.................

i guess well have to see what they have instore for the mc 808
