View Full Version : noise pollution help
Okay, I thought I’d put this here as most/all of the people here have dex or studios.
I have received a letter from my neighbour saying that if I don't stop playing my dex she will ring the police and fine me. She also says she has already called the police.
1. If she had made the complaint, the police must contact me?? Yeah?
2. Has anyone had this problem before??? If so what is the laws governing this. How long and loud may I play b4 she is allowed to complain?
NB I never play my dex after about 6pm, and never b4 10am
If somebody could point me in the right direction with specific laws and regulations that'd be great
Thanx
i had a problem with my neighbours. i doubt they would have called the cops coz the cops would have told u to turn it down. the thing is laws regsarding noise levels are council laws so not only do they differ from state to state but suburb to suburb. in my case they put a decibel meter hooked up to a dat recorder with time code, up against my neighbours fence. so any time my noise exceeded the level (i cant remeber the figure, i have it written down somewhere) the dat recorder was activated and the noise recorded with time stamp. this was to use in court for prosecuting me. of course i saw them install it so i knew what was going on and got out my own sound level meter and measure my levels right up to the threshhold then backed them off slightly. so i never exceeded the legal sound level limit. i suggest u contact ur local council for laws regarding sound then borrow a sound level meter and take some readings around the perimeter of ur property.
thanks Sean, I'll ring the council and have a chat to them.
Stupid old bitch has nothing better to do than annoy ALL of our neighbours.... everyone hates her.
This is probably the only time i'll say it but i wish she'd hurry up and die. She also rips off the goverment for soooo much money, syas she's blind so she gets more money and shit like that. X(
I hate people that rip off the system for all its worth!!
There's only one thing to do. Hire a video camera and film her doing non-blind things. Keep that letter handy, call in personaly at the local cop shop and ask if they've recieved a complaint. If they haven't, you're rocking, and it's payback time.
Chat with some neighbors, find out if anyone would be willing to share any little horror stories about what a rotten old bitch she is, generaly marshall some local support.
Call Today Tonight, Tell them about the video footage you have of a cranky old crone who's scamming the system and terrorising her neighbors. Ask them if they'd like to come and see if you have hearsay and conjecture enough for one of their appaling beat ups.
Nail the bitch to the wall, prime time style. The government will be on it in a day or two and the old duck will be looking at a cash cut. Then you send her back the same letter she sent you, with the following scrawled on the bottom...
Dance music is stronger than you know. I WILL play my tunes, and you WILL learn to like them. The phenomenom that is electronica can not be stopped by a solitary whinger like your sorry old self. We're bigger than you, and we're taking over. This is our world now.
ps. don't ^%$* with me.

hah, that would be awesome... you should do it for real!
one of the best ideas i've ever heard. you might be able to get away with just telling her about the footage you (supposedly) have of her being not blind, and you don't actually have to fuck up her life. that might be the nicer option :)

or you could video the entire lot, put it together in a story and put it up on ITM-TV for us all to giggle at...
