Hi all,
a query, i've been speaking to some folks recently about building computers, now i'm still in the very very first stages so would like to have a read up about it all. Does anyone know of a website where i can peruse some information pertaining to the relevant subject? Failing that you can just send me random abuse about my ludditiy, i'll even guarantee a decent serving reply.
ta,

Start here, and progress through the pages, really detailed but easy to grasp.
Hope it helps.

There's also a 'dummies' guide to building PC's....if you prefer in paper format
A good way to learn is to get an old, disposable computer (say a 486 or p100, something that's useless), strip it down completely, and rebuild it.
There's many little things to keep in mind, and it's probably best to learn by your mistakes on a cheap system, as books and articles won't cover everything there is to know.
If you plan to build an AMD system, maybe have someone else help you with installing the heatsink for you if you're not too sure about it. It is simple enough to do, but a shaky hand and no confidence could result in a broken cpu.
