View Full Version : Getting to Ibiza,
Hey guys,
looking at maybe heading to the island in 2012 and trying to work out the best way to get there, is it easiest to fly from Melbourne to Barcelona and then to ibiza? or go through paris or rome?
Any input is appreciated

Get pretty much anywhere in Europe and the UK and they will fly there. Barcelona is definitely the closest to Ibiza. Although I was travelling right through Europe so went there from Berlin on Easyjet, very cheap!
Am also keen to see if anyone has gone there straight from Australia. It would be like 3 flights wouldn't it? A stopover somewhere on the way to Europe or UK, the flight from stopover to Europe and then another flgiht to Ibiza? Hmmm.
P.s. That's me at the Ibiza sunset in my display pic haha. Amazzzzing place!!
I am going back in August next year. Flying with Singapore airlines from Perth to Singapore to Barcelon. Then Ryanair flight from Barcelona to Ibiza.
cheers guys, my plan was the same as yours WoD19, now just have to convince a mate to come with me and all is well

Oh I would never catch a Ryanair flight!! Don't do it they are the most unreliable airline ever. If you are on a budget the lowest I would go is with Easyjet... they are cheap and generally reliable. I flew from Berlin to Ibiza on Easyjet.
Easyjet doesn't fly Barelona to Ibiza. I am now nervous about Ryanair haha

Thank god there are no direct (and cheap) flights from Aus. Would ruin Ibiza.

If you get in early Vueling (Spanish airline) are pretty cheap from Barca to Ibiza

Me and my mate did the ferry to and from Barca. We were expecting a party boat but it mainly had families lol. Although there were some hot Spanish daughters so that made up for it :D
It took about 10 hours and I got my tan on epically which lasted me the whole week as I hardly went in the sun after that for the rest of the week.

Just out of interest how much approx does it cost for return from Australia to Ibiza(i.e. to singapore to barcelona to ibiza and back)? I so badly want to go back to Ibiza but it seems so far and expensive just for a week or 2 trip. It was so convinient when I was in Europe already! I'm wondering if I should make a trip next year or wait till the following year when I do another big Europe trip...
WoD19 - Ryanair is the airiline that basically everyone hates in Europe. I've heard a lot of stories from experienced travellers and I would personally avoid them. Something along the lines of that one of the reasons that they are so cheap is that the airline doesn't reserve airspace... so the time that you board the flight means you could be sitting there for 2 hours before there is space cleared for them to fly off. Or something along those lines. They place music on the planes if it lands on time!

Aren't all the clubs and pretty much everythong on the island shut down over winter? Except Pacha? I think the island would be pretty cold and dead for NYE. I could think of a million better places to go!

I am actually not too fussed if the flight is delayed, that would be better. I get into Barcelona at 8.30am and our flight to Ibiza is at 10.30am so cutting it fine. A delay might actually ease my nerves haha.
Might be worth finding a cheap flight later in the day and booking it just incase.

Not delayed in that way... you will be boarded and sitting on the plane and it might not actually take off for some time. I tihnk that 2 hours is plenty of time!!
2 hours is definitely plenty of time, I was just worried if my international flight was delayed for whatever reason I may get stuck in Barcelona.
But yeah sounds like I should be fine. Counting down the months!

Even if it did happen... you would have no problem getting another way to Ibiza from Barcelona.
I would swim if I had to.

Plenty of cheap internal domestic flights so you would have no issue.
