can someone point out the pros and cons of the 3 big sequencers - cubase sx, logic audio and sonar? Any recommendations before i fork out my hard earned money? So far i've had a play with sonar 2 at a local store, very nice interface and easy to use, plus the online help is pretty good too. Only problem i've noticed was that you cant use VST plugins? Or do you need some directx wrapper?

thanks,

All comes down to personal preference i think. I use logic audio and swear by it. they all do pretty much the same thing apart from a few features.

very hard to nail down this question all have their merits and short comings

cubase sx- very nice audio engine track based automation ,system link ,the best implemntation of rewire and vst code written for the p.c. nice g.u.i
still in it's infancy so a few bugs

logic- u need a mac to be updateable coz apple now owns emagic
supposedly 'far superior' to cubase as far as timing goes dedicated tactile controller available
the logic environment where you can basically set your whole studio up as far as midi, audio and digital connections go
but confusing as hell to the beginner stupidly steep learning curve

sonar- yeah u need a vst to dx wrapper to use vst stuff with it not had a lot of experience with it though so cant really comment

just get all the demos and play with them see what suits your way of working it is really a personal choice thing

i'm a cubase boy basically becoz when i started i couldn't figure logic out and cubase was a whole lot easier to use so i've stuck with it

remember if you own a pc logic is at v 5.3 where it will stay and no further development will take place
