anyone know of anything planned for new years yet?? not too far away when you think about it. i've heard rumours about who'll be playing down south - carl cox. darren emerson, richie hawtin, pvd. i think all briz promoters, myself included, should get together and put on something special this year. ideas people?????what would you like to see this new years?????
I thought Emerson last year at BDO was great - like to see him back....
I don't know, some good quality live dance acts would be great !
maybe get emerson and his old buddies in Underworld back together
that'd be pretty cool

chemical brothers would be fucken awesome!
but have them at RNA with decent lights and sound - family & monastery would'nt handle it. if you are gonna set everything up, why not invite the prodigy aswell? carl cox will then realise some heavy @!#$ is going down up our way and join the bandwagon!
that is the new year i'm dreamin of... :)

How about a decent pytrance act for Bris eg Shpongle, Space cat, CHI AD, SON Kite, ect ect. There is always a devoted following in the area as evidenced by the fact that there are always parties going on in the summer months in and around the brisbane, sun & gold coast, and Byron hinterlands. We're sick of being left out Eg Infected Mushroom only in Syd & Melb last w/end, Etnica & ticon in Syd Earlier this yr. We wanna be blown away by the big names

Nothing of substance has been released about New Years Eve here yet. A lot of us are considering coming south for Welcome 2002 with Diggers, so you may want to stay put!
New Years Day, tho, I've heard convincing reports of Roger Sanchez encoring his performance from same time last year here, with Tayo & Stanton Warriors in tow.....
Yeah i will be in sunny (whatever!) Noosa for NYE, but interested in what is on NY Day - If Roger Sanchez is playing, I'm there for sure!

NYD2001 saw Brisbane really Turning It On. I say hold on party people before booking any tickets interstate this year. Its early days yet! The Tribal Grooves gig that Roger Sanchez headlined brought out one of the friendliest, liveliest, most up4it crowds and lit up one top venue (the Tivoli)... the place was absolutely heaving and the atmosphere and general quality of the acts rivalled all the interstate gigs (of which there were plenty) that I had been to in the months before.
I'm one of that 24.1% in last week's poll who's qualm-free about heading interstate for the good gigs, but in light of NYD2001 here in the hometown, I intend to stay put for Brisneyland's NYD2002.
Brisbane is really starting to rock!
A comment on venue though... we are way overdue for Family & Monastery to join forces via that carpark for a proper 2-venue bash. Also long, long overdue for Family's management to get the hell over themselves (!!) and turn off the hot water. Whats with that club????
I know that the Tivoli is booked already for non-dance events for both NYE and NYDay, so unfortunately there won't be anything on there this time around..:-(
Rumour has it, and it wouldn't suprise me if its true, Digweed and Tenaglia (aircraft permitting) will be playing in Melbourne for New Years, now that is something worth seeing
and Digweed / Lawler in Sydney

I wouldn't be so sure about the Tivoli being used by a none dance music promoter on NYD 2002.
Rumours are a plenty

I very much doubt that Tenaglia will be in Australia on NYE or in the near future. I would like to be proved wrong though.
I saw Digweed at Welcome 2001 and he was F$&%*'in amazing. The downside was that becasue he was sooo good I thought the rest of the nigth was pretty average. The venue (Olympic Park) is crap. The numbers were way below what was expected there was no atmosphere created either - apart from the music - the venue/people were dull. I can only hope it gets better for the people going there this year.
I am moving to Gold Coast in Jan - what is family and monastery? Is it a club?

i really would not be in a hurry to discount our local promoters for this nye
i have it on good authority that our very own A-team have some tricks in the bag for circus-x on the sandy beaches of the gold coast with quite a tasty line up indeed
there's a SONIX outdoor event NYE which should be pretty cool if you like a bit of fresh air and scenery to see the new years in. email sonix@email.com for details - if you email them now (ie before nov 3rd) they will also send u info about their november 3rd event @ Belthorpe which has an excellent lineup.
heard that the A*Team is after some local live electronic artists to play at their event on nye - great exposure for the locals and great to see the promoters getting behind live electronic music as well.
was is roger sanchez' name being thrown around for new years day again? (I could have been dreaming though ;)
if you're in sydney there's a cool sounding pool party planned for new years day.. I might check that out.

if it's frsh air you're after this NYE (ie get out of Bris) there's exodus @ giraween Nat Park near tentafield. from 30/12/01- 6/01/02. A festival of trance, art and tribal beats and crafts (only 3 nights of doof) see http://www.happypeopleproductions.com/ for more info.
We also went to a party on the top of a mountain near Murwillumbah a fortnight ago, an amazing setup these poeple had and stunning location. they informed us they would be having one at the same spot on NYE. check out www.internomad.com for the details (location) of the party just gone, and check out the mobile dj truck they use.
