OK. This is probably going to sound dumb, but I don't care.
I want to know how you can rip something off a live internet radio stream. I've seen many times that people have ripped mp3s of live sets on the radio. I want to do it myself coz i am playing on the radio!
At this point I can pick up radio via media player to my laptop.
Now what?
I have SoundForge, which is how I record sets direct from my mixer. How do I get the stream into sound forge?
Any advice would be fantastic. As you can tell I'm a bit of a techno-cretin. ;D
Cheers

any ole sound recorder will allow this, there are freeware sound recorders galore available on the net! They work by simply recording in parallel any sound that travells through the sound card!

if your soundcard is anywhere near decent, it will have internal loopback
double click volume control on taskbar
options > properties > recording
look in that list box, do you see somthing that says WaveOut or Mixer or something like that? if u do, check the box and hit OK
now you've got volume controls for your soundcard's recording
select the mixer/waveout one and set the volume
soundforge should now be able to record anything that comes out the speakers
i'd attach a picture but some bastard disabled IMG code.

What you need to do in whatever recording program you use is to set up your 'device for recording' or something from the audio options/preferences window.
Say if you hvae like, 2 sound cards (or recording sources) , in the drop down box you want to select the soundcard you have the radio stream coming through. Then in the volume control/properties mixer window (set to recording like in the other post), adjust the recording level for the wave device (you should see the level meters going up and down to ur radio stream).
So What you have just done is:
1) told your recording program (cooledit, etc) that you want to use a particular sound card or sound source for recording
2) told windows what sound to actually record
Whats left is to hit record in your recording program and sit back and drink some home brew
unless I've fucked up and missed something. in that case, sue me ;)
thanks ser0tone buddy, Ive got it working perfectly ;D
Be careful what you use your PC for whilst recording. Whilst recording some MDs a while back I carried on using my PC, now I can hear a lot of Windows 'chimes', 'pings', and browser 'clicks' in the background when I listen to them. Doh!
