I was doing some channel surfing on the car the other day and I found a new station that seems to be a dance music station. The frequency is 94.9 FM and the anouncer said it was a test broardcast for 4MIX FM or somthing like that. Does anybody know anything about this, is it apart of Star FM?

i live in spring hill and i can't even get a decent reception here. and it is even worse when i drive around to for example the valley or the cbd. great station, too bad the reception is crap.
Just listening to that station now... sounds like Wild all over again AARRRRGGHHHH!!!!!
To the guys @ Rhythm: While my reception comes and goes, which I guess I can live with... when are you switching to local content, so I can stop grimacing at the awful sound quality from taking that wma tap from the web site???

I found this on the new station in the paper this morning, if anybody's interested.
"Another radio station comming online over the weekend is Ipswich based 94.9 MHz, formerly operated as Star FM on 106.9 MHz.
The station , also known as 4MIX, upgraded it's transmiitter to provide a stronger signal into Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba." - Allison White, The Courier Mail

Bigsvenie, the new radio station is River FM 94.9.
I attended the launch party last Friday in which John Howard named the station via video link up and Bardot performed five of their tracks live (or was it live?).
Their programming focusses on rock, pop, 'soft' (must be a new genre) and occasional commercial dance. The station will run a similar commercial format to B105 with breakfast shows etc.
Rest assured those interested in dance music may not find River FM will be their cup of tea. Also, in some areas you may not be able to pick it up too well.
As for Rhythm reception quality, as you'll see from another forum post, they've been informed that problems somewhere in the feed up here have greatly hampered signal quality. If you listen in right now the signal should be pretty good. Unfortuntaely many of the Western suburbs are still out of range but that is being rectified as we speak, apparently.
