seems like they all have some inferiority complex that forces em to constantly talk about how shite the graphics are on the psx and ps2, and how the xbox and dreamcast are the greatest thing since wolfenstein 3d. jeebus.

nah not all.. seems to be a few bad apples around at the moment though.

I think because they are, at the moment, a minority group they perhaps feel they need to be more vocal in order to "fit in" or something.
i mean the xbox isnt a bad piece of kit, even if it is a bastardised pc. it has without a doubt the best piece of graphics hardware in any of the current consoles, and is without a doubt one the easiest of the three to code for.
my problem with the xbox (aside from microsoft's business practices here) is the fact there is no "killer app" for it. maybe jetset radio future will fix that?
im a little over certain peoples constant need to assert that the console they own was actually worth the money.
while we're in a winging mood, where the fuck are all the good gamecube games? why does the ps2 lineup look VERY shit after grand theft auto: vice city? why did they wuss out and only cell shade the animated objects and not the backgrounds in robotech? when will the xbox get a "killer app"? and why the hell has the pc had nothing decent come out for it in ages???

no, you're just uninformed.
Capcom have just announced five extremely impressive looking titles for Gamecube. (http://www.cube-fr.com/) Killer7 and RE4 both being incredible looking. not to mention the new Metroid Prime which is receving nothing but the highest of praise. coupl this with RE/RE0/Eternal Darkness/SMS/Rogue, etc and the Gamecube lineup is looking very strong.
Splinter Cell and Mech Assault are both being heralded as "AAA" for Xbox and Pazer Dragoon Orta due out in a few months looks to be the most beautiful game ever created. between these, i'll be playing Rocky, Fifa2003, Deathrow and MGS:Substance.
and Jet Set Radio Future has been out for almost a year..
maybe you're just looking at the broader picture from a very closed Playstation mentality? "killer app" is such a bullshit term. do you wait to wait around for a game to sell 5gazillion units before you consider it worthy?

nah, im looking for something that breaks the current mold. something that is so polished, so enthralling and entertaining that i simply *must* own the game. say something with the professional values of MGS2 or GTA3.
maybe im just jaded :)
maybe i should just avoid the boards when im bored at work?

To be honest 2 months ago I was set on buying a ps2. I loved GTA3 and Vice City was enough to sell the console for me. Then something interesting happened. I was talking to a mate who said he wanted to sell his xbox with a 10 gig hard drive 3 original games and a controller for $450. I was sceptical at first but he told me it had two days to go on ebay and I decided not to take any chances and bought it the next day. Since then I haven't regretted it one bit. Although I admit the games on the xbox so far haven't been as appealing to me as ps2 titles, the games that are starting to come out now are really as good as any others on the ps2 or gamecube. Plus the fact that you just borrow games or dvds from Video stores, rip them on to your pc and transfer to the xbox. The fact that the xbox has released a new controler for ex-playstation users has just added to my appreciation of the system, now games such as Tony Hawks can be played with the same enjoyment that u get on the ps2. The more I get into my xbox, the more possibilities there seems to be and for me this makes it the best system at the moment...plus the fact that Doom 3 is coming out for it! Fuck yeah!

yeh... Doom3 sounds sweet... WE've got an Xbox at home (evil housemate) and its got fantastic graph as indicated before.
Lord of the Rings game is a bit dull however... i mean who is gonna stay interested with quests like "go and give the deed to bag end to the sacksville bagginses' Wasnt there a black rider about to kill frodo or something...?
Although Gandalf is fun to use...

jet set radio was an annoying game that came out ages ago, but i dont know how u could go past as Halo as a "killer app" - its without doubt one of the best games ever. with 'xbox live' now out in the usa, games like halo 2 will be massive!
give me Halo, Madden 2003, and Tony Hawk 4 and im set :P

about bagging out the ps2? i dont think its really bagging out the ps2 cos its got sic games, its fair comparison, the xbox graphics shit all over the ps2 and its just a fact.... check out a game like morrowind.... i cant see the playstation2 being able to cover that amount of detail....
and yeh killer games on xbox.... madden2003, halo, morrowind, splinter cell, hitman2.... the xbox is just underrated for the quality of its games cos ps2 owners are jealous of how much more the xbox can do :D
and jet set radio future?! are you kidding me! that was one of the most irritating boring mindless games ive ever played... this whole cel shading crap is a fad... and the wow factor will plummet just as it did with the lens flare... woooo......ohhhhh......ahhhh......

i dont like halo either. too reminiscent of doom, and you need to read the entire book that comes with it to even get a vague idea of what you're meant to do. give me a game that i work out by sitting down and actually PLAYING it dammit!

ok. maybe i should explain something here.
1. im a girl.
2. im not a big fan of bang bang bang kill kill kill games.
3. read a book for doom? pffft. sif.
4. i put on halo, sat there hitting buttons. nothing happened, cept that something killed me. for some reason i couldnt get the damn thing to work. maybe it was the fact i hadnt used an xbox before.
