View Full Version : What's happening in Perth?

Hello all.

A brief history: I lived in Perth until about 18 months ago, at which point I came to Sydney and discovered the amazing dance/clubbing/rave scene over here, and after the top 40's commercial crap [think: Radio 80's at the Metro on a Friday night, Dj Sooperfantabulous pumping out Aqua's Barbie Girl @ Redheads on a Saturday] I had known I must say I was suitably impressed. Obviously I would have been oblivious to the good stuff, being the young, uninformed drinker that I was [note: everybody in Sydney is on drugs...if they say they aren't, well, they're lying] but given that I'm planning a week or two trip at the beginning of April, I was wondering if you Perth folks could steer me in the direction of a club or party where I would find some nice progressive trance tunes, even some banging techno/trance or funky house would suffice...is there a Perth equivalent of Voodoo or Plastic?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I think it's great that ITM has put up a Perth forum. Despite the complaint in another post, it's important to remember that due to its relatively small dance scene Perth is often overlooked by this sort of site, and little by little ITM's coverage increases across the nation...have patience, 'if you build it they will come'. No wait, that quote is entirely obscure and completely irrelevent. Uh...'fear, leads to anger'...

What am I on and where can you get some.

Here's a quote from an article quijibo wrote for itm back in 2001:

"I came to Perth convinced that nothing there could possibly live up to the clubbing experiences I've enjoyed in Sydney, so perhaps those lowered expectations can account for how pleasantly surprised I was to see that somebody there had gotten it right. Spiral's first Technique was, in my humble opinion, a great night featuring high class DJs, a friendly crowd, and a party atmosphere that lasted into the wee hours of the morning. Let's hope Technique is the beginning of the end of cheese for the serious Perth clubber, and the first in a series of amazing Saturday nights."

He is a tool. That is all.

Anyone that claims Sydney is a cheese-free zone should give themselves an uppercut

Geez. Is this piece of crap thread still going??
Congrats for re-opening what was clearly one of the most boring threads of 2001.
Perhaps the moderators would like to close it now?
