just got an xbox and...........

Well after trading my old ps1 in with teb games i got the new xbox pack with 3 games halo gt2002 and some really jap games with graffite or what ever......


i am a very loyal ps2 fan but always open to other consoles so i went and bought my xbox with no xpectations at all and thats what i got xbox failed to impress me wont go into details now ill post em later as ill give it a few more days....

the machine is just shit and nothing to back it up games wise and halo aint anything special....

Is it really worth it getting those consoles?
I mean they might be better than a computer for playing games, but it can't multitask like a good ol computer.
Plus you have to add up all the costs of buying all those expensive games, it's the same with the computer but u can get it and burn it..............
I don't know abt here, but in places like hong kong and japan, they can get burnt games and play them after they run a separate disc........can they do that here and do they sell here?

ive got an xbox and personally i think its great.... it took a while to get rolling but there are tonnes of good games for it now, the machine looks good, has a harddrive so you can rip your music on it and play it during games, the graphics shit on a ps2 (i aint an xbox groupie i used to have ps1 and played ps2 and well xbox is well above the ps2 in my opinion)....

id say if you are gonna buy a console, buy an xbox... you can even play it online now with this thing called xbox connect if you connect ethernet between ur pc and xbox... and with such a good price now i cant see a reason (beside grand theft auto) in getting a ps2....

I was one who had pre ordered the xbox before release so have had one for a while now..... Ive played all the consoles over the years from the super nintendo , nintendo 64, gamecube to ps1/2 etc etc and the Xbox is by far and away the best of the lot ..... Sure the game selection wasnt as good as PS2 for a while but they have released some absolute corkers lately ....

Tiger woods golf, sega gt , desert storm , Colin Mcrae rally 3(fucking brilliant rally game ) halo, splinter cell, too name but a few.....

Now go and spend some QT with the box and get back to us .....

I'm fuckin sick of all these fucking Sony lovers going on about how good the ps2 and how shit the xbox is, going on about how good ps2 games are compared to the xbox. I challenge you guys to name any games besides the GT and GTA series that the ps2 has going for it that the xbox doesn't have!

I have both a ps2 and an xbox and there's no contest for me, the xbox ripps the shit through the ps2 in almost every way. Only games I have and will probably ever play on the ps2 are GTA3:Vice City and Tony's 4 (only because I'm used to the psx controlers, not because its better on the ps2, Tony's freaks know what I'm talking about). The xbox does me for everything else, better graphics, easily modifiable hard drive, better dvd player, online capability, 4 controler ports...and don't make me list all the things it can do once you've put a new 120 gig hard drive in it.

I think the hatred toward the xbox on this forum has a lot to do with ps2 owners who are jealous that the xbox is superceeding the ps2 in almost every way. And for those wankers who say they're no good games on the xbox, why don't you go out and have a look at the games instead of whinging about the ones you got with the entertainment pack...

Just because the xbox doesn't have 1 game that sells the system (hello:GTA3:Vice City) doesn't mean it doesn't have good games. I think the fact that many ps2 users say that there is no STANDOUT game on the xbox shows the depth of games on the xbox....

bah, im not a rabid sony fan (ok, maybe slightly rabid) but i think the whole polarisation of the market is showing nothing more than THE MARKETING WORKS.

brand loyalty is one of those things that you either have, and you live, or you dont and you die.

lets take the gamecube for example. it has some top notch games (ok, so maybe three mario,pikmin, and err.. yeah) but no one seems to give it more than 30 seconds airtime. theres no ps2 sucks xbox sucks gamecube rules! threads are there.

its interesting to see how both microsoft AND sony have positioned nintendo completly out of the market by letting their fanbases go at each other and completly ignore the third player. its quite brutally beautiful to watch really.

hell, if the roumors are true, we can expect another major price cut (xbox and ps2 @ 99$ US anyone? how about the gamecube at 50$ US) sometime soon after xmas. I know ill porbrably grab both an xbox (whee mechwarrior!) and a gamecube (for metroid,pikmin, zelda, and mario.. how did nintendo get into its current mess is beyond me) at THAT price.. how could you not? the most expensive bit of kit will be the video/audio splitter required to plug three consoles into your tv/amp

gah. your entitled to post personal opnions (eg: those xbox controllers are just the pits.. damn m$ should have the option to get the smaller japanese ones with the bloddy box) but theres no need to turn it into yet another flamefest marketing exercise.

oh, and as for games the xbox doesnt have but you might want to check out:
- pro evolution soccer... its WAY better than fifa, on any platform. in fact the new fifa stole a lot of its new gameplay from pro evo.. its simply that good
- burnout 2 ... well its fun, its ps2 exclusive for now.. its great!
- gitaroo man ... ok so this is wierd japaneseness.. but its great.. if you like those dancing game things ... but hey.. i like it but then again im kinda strange...

so now to reverse the call... other than halo, whats the xbox got to offer? maybe you can even suggest something to mr plastic who's currently not convinced?

unly halo, splintercell, rallisport challenge, world series baseball, Monoply party(???), blinx, House of the Dead 3, Fusion frenzy
are the xbox exclusives at the moment

it just goes to show that all this posturing is pretty much wasted when 80% of the a grade titles appear on at least two of the three platforms......

err i think you will find the chip aint mx2.... the xbox chip isnt made for pcs, its built for the console.... and about graphics? well you can say it may not look so great but the fact is, xbox is designed for hdtv to have resolutions like a computer monitor so the best is yet to come for the rich....

Xbox just needed time. At the beginning i agree only halo, amped Project gotham etc were available but now look at it. I remember when my local video store had only a couple of games to hire when xbox came out now its just as big as the PS2 wall. Someone was saying ps2 had games xbox didnt.
Well now they do. Fifa and all the other games you counted have been or are going to be released on xbox. Some games obviously wont but the quality of the machine can not be doubted. You may be a hardcore PS2 fan but Xbox is the shit at the moment. And wait another couple of months and youll see some of the most insane games youve ever come across.
E.G Recently Morrowind got released on Xbox. One of the most addictive games ive ever played. The stroy line of the game is create by your actions so everytime you play the game the story is dfferent.

Conclusion, yes sony playstation is quality and has heaps of game blah blah but Xbox IS better than PS2 atm. Im keen to see what sony will come up with next to rival the next xbox????

but no in all seriousness all the platforms have ups and downs.

the PS2 was the only console i have ever rid myself of, primarily because i bought into the logic that since so many ppl had one, it must be good.

its ok, but its not special. If you simply MUST play RPG after RPG, get a PS2. Aside from the RPG side of things, there arent a great deal of genre's the PS2 excels in by comparison to the other systems. if your an EA games nut, the PS2 is atm the only, and maybe for awhile, console to get online support from EA. it does have quality games in each genre i dont deny that but i couldnt actually say there are any "killer app" titles on the PS2 that another console didnt better it for.

xbox - best graphics, sound yadda yadda yadda. anyone who denies it is the most powerful console of this generation is a dick. graphics dont equate to everything, but some games do benefit from its extra power, Splinter Cell - Pandora Tomorrow anyone? FPS's deny as much as you want seem to be a genre that continue to sometimes rely on, and push the graphical edge. Halo not good enough, well Halo 2, Half Life 2, Doom 3. HL and Doom naturally will rock harder on a PC, but if you only have consoles, dont expect to see titles like them on a PS2 and Gamecube. xbox has the support to get quality ports of multiplatform titles aswell having its own exclusives enough to make it a worthy purchase;

PGR2, Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive Ultimate, Shenmue 2, GunValkyrie, Panzer Dragoon, KOTOR, Fable, RalliSport Challenge, V8 Supercars 2, Full Spectrum Warrior, Crimson Skies, Top Spin, Dues Ex.....plenty more and it depends on personal taste but the xbox to me excels over a broad range with quality titles exclusive to the big black box of sheet metal. not to mention of course the quality multiplatform titles.


Gamecube is probly the most underrated by far. IMO its as good as the xbox, so long as you dont expect the same library size. if it werent for some very fine titles inhouse, the system would have sunk, but honestly if you overlook this little box, your missing out. Metroid Prime, Mario, Star Wars Rouge Squadron, Eternal Darkness, Viewtiful Joe, Pikman, Wind Waker, Mario Kart, resident Evil. IMO these are some of the best games available on any system right now, and each has a sequel due soon.

graphically not quite on par with the xbox, but when you see it in motion you'll be damned if theres a huge difference, many titles on the cube actually look better then most titles on the xbox. make no doubt about it the quality titles fro graphics on the xbox leave everything behind but Nintendo's little cube is surprisingly capable, especially the new Resident Evil 4 coming exclusive to cube soon is said to be one of the best looking games on any system and from the screens i've seen, they arent joking. if it looked like it did running on xbox i'd be impressed, the fact its on cube is pretty damn amazing.

financially, the Gamecube has some absolutely quality titles, but once you have gone through those few top quality titles theres little reason to own a cube, its only strength being inhouse titles, and we know how long Nintendo love to wait before releasing a title.

PS2 if your an RPG fan, graphically inferior to the other systems maybe, but still some quality titles and more releases you could poke a stick at, wether its the better purchase for you and you enjoy those titles, thats a personal opinion. i personally dont like the PS2's range of titles. they arent terribly bad IMO, but they arent exactly fantastic either. (and no i dont play RPG's)

Xbox has the best alround and its killer app's have very rarely been a disappointment. a graphical beast beside the other consoles at the expense of making your living room 80% smaller, but a solid line up of titles and support and some truly refreshing exclusive titles. it also has Ninja Gaiden. nuff said.

I've got xbox, ps2 and gc,.

Now, tech wise xbox ownz but thats all it's got going for it, i play my gc more out of all three, why you may ask??

Playabilty! The games are soo much fun to play!

When i play xbox, i feel like everygame is produced by EA, the same old thing over and over again!!


Man Nintendo are gonna OWN the industry with the "N5" when it is realesed.

Umm... me. I bought one 2 months ago for a sweet deal. I actually like it more than my XBOX which I've had for over a year now. But that's because Zelda, Metroid & Eternal Darkness are MY type of games. I get so hysterical when I play a Zelda game. Nothing beats the cerebral rush you get solving puzzles in this nifty adventure. The puzzles range from small localised types to ones that require you to even play through the entire game before you can solve them.

Only games I have enjoyed on XBOX so far is Top Spin, Splinter Cell, Beyond Good & Evil and PGR2. Actually, I don't even like PGR2. Fable looks promising but we'll just have to see on its release how deep the gameplay really is. I'm a bit wary of the combat in Fable as it looks a bit like Conan. Hopefully it aint. :p

Hehe, I've already made up my mind this early on that I will get the next Nintendo machine and igore the XBOX 2 and PS3 completely.

Marketing Tactic 101 sure gets me all the time. :P

i couldnt own a gamecube without my xbox, but i couldnt own an xbox without my gamecube. between the dreamcast, gamecube and xbox, i dont think theres been a better time to be a console games geek. around the N64 i was starting to lose my interest in gaming, it was getting abit stale, but these three consoles have been such a huge leap over al the previous consoles its ridiculous.

ok first things first, i am an xbox owner and have never owned a PS, so i guess whatever i say next is gonna come from a biased viewpoint!

many posts here have all mentioned that xbox started off crappy and got better in time - this is so true. There are some Great games for the xbox now, and the line up in the future looks impressive.

Also, xbox has the best online service going around for a console (i have heard the PS live service is crappy at best, and Nintendo's one is nonexistent). Xbox live is sheer gold, enough said. Its almost as if u only own half an xbox if u don't have the live service. So if u have cable or ADSL at your place then i recommend u get it! Especially if u love racing games, xbox live is da bomb...

in terms of games, xbox don't have the quantity, but they have the quality. A brief walkthrough of my fav:-

v8 supercars2 - can't stop playing this at the moment. Hooning around Bathurst with 8 mates on xbox live is the prolly the pinnacle of gaming!

project gotham racing 2 - another awesome racing game. Blasting around the streets of sydney is especially fun...

halo - ILL BE THE FIRST TO ADMIT THAT HALO SINGLE PLAYER IS ORDINARY. But in multiplayer - halo kicks so much butt its not funny. This has to be the best multiplayer FPS game IMHO. Grab some extra tellies, connect 4 xboxes together via system link - guanranteed fun. My mates do this occasionally (i know its very nerdy...) and its always a blast...

crimson skies - wicked plane dogfighting game. lotsa fun

ninja gaiden - hard, but satisfying....dashing around, slicing up ninjas = good stress relief.

rainbow six3/ghost recon - good FPS if u like that whole military genre.

anyways thats my rant, i hope to see both ppl agreeing and disagreeing with me on this...
