View Full Version : PLUR- frankie B
I recently went to jeff mills for about half an hour, because it was free. And I was shocked to see how little people at the event cared about each other. The event was over capacity, and obviously dangerous, however maybe that was changed as I left in 30 mintues. But there was a distinct lack of plur, the phrase coined by frankie bones, and what i remember parties in perth and worldwide to be , where people respected each other and didnt trample over eachother to get to the bathrooms for another line. Im just asking you new people to the scene to have some respect. But what should I care I dont attend Delerium events anyway.

Dude,
you sound jaded! If you've been going out for a while, like me, you would definitely have noticed that these things tend to happen in waves. People feed off each other's emotions and actions and if your first few encounters with punters at a club are all pushing and shoving and scowling, you're gonna end up the same way before the end of the night and before you know it, it's a @!#$ night.
I went to a party with friends a few months ago and it was a big house party. Now that's not my fav style at the best of times, but I found the people there to be all really scary and full on. basically, I had a horrible night because of the people. But I was talking to another friend at various stages of the night and she was LOVING it. She obviously started with the right attitude and went on from there. She started conversations and made friends and generally just had a great time.
Sometimes it's totally beyond your control, but in my experience, there are very few occassions when you smile at someone and they don't smile back. But I tell you what, if someone doesn't smile back, they are seriously in my bad books and look out. It fecks up your whole night and puts you on a downward spiral.... well, me anyway.

dr4gon: check out the thread i started in this forum last week entitled "mills?" a few of us talk about similar opinions to what you're voicing
Dr4gon I completely agree with you about the crowd at Jeff Mills, it wasn't the sort of crowd that you'd expect to go and see Mills and I think that might have influenced his set, but that's another issue.
Perth has some completely awesome crowds on some nights, but in the last couple of months the best crowd I've experienced would have to have been Marco Carola @ Geisha, personally I prefer smaller events because you leave kinda feeling you know everyone there and that just doesn't happen with big crowds.
I haven't been going out for that long, probably a year at the most and it's very unfair to blame "the new people" for ruining the scene, I'm very new to the scene and it shits me to tears when people do stuff like that but that's the way some people are they're so selfish that they don't care about anyone else and then they start spouting on about PLUR and how they love everyone, but they don't think they love everyone cos they're on MDMA, I guess my point is people are inherently selfish, there's nothing we can do about it so we kinda have to learn to deal with the minority of selfish wankers there.
Peace

P.S having lines in the car is wayyy better than going to the toilets, i don't know how people do it in the toilets :)

Ok, Ok.
Without the risk of sounding like a know it all...
I am 21 and was raving on the underground in Sydney and Perth with my cous since 16 (no drugs then!) You would have to be blind not to notice the change in the 'rave world'.
PLUR was and still is a big thing to me and I believe that the older days were better - HOWEVER, I agree that new ravers/clubbers are less caring and less friendly but you can not blame them. I still go out and and have a blast - I just choose to block out that part of the evening!
Also the best way to avoid it....
... notice the young non-carering crowd are there just for the drugs and not the music... notice they are the ones in constant chill space... ie. on the street outside the venue? Simply avoid that space. Works for me!!!
Anyhow peoples.... have fun, be safe and PLUR to ya all!
