View Full Version : Visuals at Family
Quick question for everyone who goes to Family: ever taken a close look at the visuals up on the screens? There is one being used at the moment with a chick underwater blowing bubbles and stuff.
I don't know about you but my friends and I are finding it's really disturbing, especially when one is a bit scattered at the end of the night. I like the driving one, and I loved the computer generated stuff they used to put up on the screens, but I am mystified as to how anyone could possibly enjoy this underwater one...

The horrendous kiddie porn @ Kodak Beach clip? Oooh Tim-e is right.. its so very, very, very wrong.
** BUT YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, TELL THEM ABOUT IT**
I complained about this video at the Hipp-E gig and they swapped it over almost immediately for the driving one. The best way to get rid of that ...errr, thing... is to voice your concerns as a paying client and explain firmly and politely that you (and your friends) won't be coming back to see more half naked toddlers.
The next challenge is convincing Family to turn off the hot water in the taps. Its gonna be a nightmare mid summer.
Yes, I was there for Hipp-E and noticed that it got switched off rather abruptly... I am thinking of doing something formal to try and get rid of it for good! They never play it over their peak period, it's always the driving one... but I know it's time to move on when that visual is on and they play that truly awful track with the driving bass, evil vocal sample and that horrendous wailing. Aarrgh!
As for the hot water, though... they can't detract from their Evian sales, now, can they? And warm water is not good on the hands when one is *ahem* indulging ;-)

"Disturbing" is the word for it... many times i've sat there watching it thinking "is this the best they can do?"
As for the water... not even complaints to the licencing commission can change that (yes, one of my friends actually did). They're supplying water, so they're not technically doing anything wrong...
That's part of the point - they can, and have, done so much better... what was wrong with the computer generated stuff? I thought it was funky and matched the feel of the club's atmosphere... oh, well.
Does anyone have an e-mail address for the club's management? There are no contact details on the website at all...
I know they're not breaking any regulations by piping warm water in the washrooms, but it is a little uncomfortable now it's nearly summer... they should just bite the bullet, most of my friends buy one bottle, refill it and let it stand until it cools down anyway.

I'm pretty sure that the visuals at Family are the creation of an evil genius named Jason, who most likely is just messing about with your head. The stuff that he can pump out of his laptop is truly insane. He has done a lot of the visuals at System 6's and A-team parties and is certainly one of the best in Brisbane.
I havent spoken to him in a while, but that was still his gig last time i checked. If you still want to speak to someone about it then post a response here and Ill send him your email adress Tim-e.
Cheers

Gruuvenfunken, top marks for helping out tiger... but I think you'll find that Jason's not the evil genius behind this truly horrid creation. I reckon he'd be gutted to even be associated with it. You seen it? Oh so very, very wrong.
I'd be happy to just give Family the feedback... they may have already done something, they played no visuals at all last Saturday night.
I don't know about everyone else, but I really liked the computer graphic animation type stuff better than the video loops. My two cents, which is worth a fair bit considering how many times I've been there and the s**tloads of money I've spent on f**king bottled water.
>> Oh so very, very wrong.
You are oh, so very, very right, gingerpeachy! I am still in a state where I cringe when I think of it!

Commiserations tim-e, I'm praying that therapy will help me too.
I think I'm almost through it... it's been a week and a half since I last saw it, and I won't be there for another two weeks or so... it's hard, and I feel your pain too. We must band together and take action to banish this horror from our collective lives... :)
